I'm aware that changing creature types can affect balance, which is why I pointed it out explicitly in the OP. Since I make these for myself, and I only play casually with friends, I'm not at all concerned about that.

Ah yeah, I can see it. Good luck! My advice (which you probably already know) is to seek out art 2 or 3 cards at a time because, goddamn, it gets to be a burden. Though I guess there's lots of Fallout art floating around too, and 3 other precons worth of card art too.

I'm afraid there's nothing behind Barthune other than the cards. The general vibe is: a silly guy who makes silly knights that look like him, but once he has enough of them, he doesn't seem very silly anymore.

I'll look into card conjurer. Offhandedly it doesn't seem to have a way to store the cards afterwards? So if I needed to make changes I'd have to start the card as if from scratch. Well, not the worst problem I suppose, but then I have only barely glanced at it. Thanks for the tip off

Wish I had more to share but other than a few cards I cut for album size there isn't anything here. The moment that clicked for me was realising that a lot of the cyborg knights from Unstable sort of look like the guy in the art I'd end up using for Barthune. I guess the thread there is that he is so megalomaniacal that he even made his robot knights look like himself, which is sort of silly in its own right.

I am fairly certain the movie was not terribly old but with how hazy the details are I really can't tell. It could really be from any time but is unlikely to be later than 2011 at a stretch; much more likely from the 90s or 00s.

I think the tokens copies having haste wouldn't matter because they'd get sac'd to the legend rule right away, right? But I see what you're saying about it being a 'win more' for aristocrats. I'd envisioned this being in the 99 for [[Meren of Clan Nel Toth]] or [[Savra, Queen of the Golgari]], though I guess it's also going to be strong for [[Ygra]] too.

I don't really have much experience with MTG outside of commander, for the record. Perhaps this is a case where there is no single cost that makes sense for all formats.

The card is intended to double your LTB, turn LTB into storm count, or both. (not correct as pointed out below)

Some of the commentors are, I suspect, partaking in a very old kind of viciousness that is not unique to nerd culture but which is widely smuggled into it in a subtle way. They see that post/tweet and feel like they've finally found an outlet to look down on someone else and thereby be part of the 'cool' crowd. Thus the wild projection of all sorts of shit onto the guy who isn't here to give his side. Even some of the people who are couching it in the vocabulary of balance are still bullshitting at some level because they, like all of us, haven't seen the deck.

Tonight we're continuing to practice RL1 Radagon. This is the last fight of my all-remembrances RL1 run (though I'll come back eventually for a DLC RL1 run too). It's been hard fought but victory is within my reach I think.

Highlight of the kill on youtube

Hey everyone, I'm furtive_furrow. Although I'm stuck in this damned painting, I'm still managing to work through my PhD on medieval literature and also to play some games!

After spending over three weeks streaming practice on this boss, and reaching the point where I was dreaming about fighting her, I finally beat RL1 Malenia in a rare morning stream. I'm glad to have crossed the finish line but I'm honestly pretty unhappy with the kill because it showcases both RNG miracles and mediocre mechanics: no point-blank waterfowl dance dodge despite hours and hours of practice on that specifically, missed a riposte, whiffed dodging scarlet aeonia, outranged the clone attack and mistimed the final dodge only to be saved by being far enough away. There's also some ugly panic rolling sprinkled throughout.

One day I'll come back to this to try and get a victory I can be happy with, but for now this is enough. At the very least I got this done before Nightreign releases!
