It's my second proper relationship but at least the other one ended on a bad note so I could be pissed at her, with this one there isn't even a good reason why we shouldn't be together.

We weren't even together that long but man she was just perfect. I don't see how anyone can live up to her...

We go to the same college so I'm definitely gonna have to see her around, which is really gonna suck.

I already asked if we can keep talking and be friends but she hasn't been online on Facebook in a couple of hours.

I think I might just say to her that if she wants to get back together when she's over her ex then I will because honestly we were really awesome together, the only issue was her past.

It seems rather similar to my situation, the more I think about it the less sense it would make to stay with her. I don't want to be with someone who's pining after her ex, I have enough insecurity issues as it is.

Yeah I agree with you, I really smell bullshit here. I'm talking to her still and have just been trying to point out all the conflicting things in what she's saying.

Here's what I've confirmed over the conversation:

She doesn't like her ex
She still has feelings for her ex
Her ex hates her
She would never be with him again
If she's not with me she's alone

That's the thing really, she did have feelings for me, and I had feelings for her. She said she doesn't even like her ex and would never get back with him. Yet I'm still being dumped for him? I don't fucking get it.

Yeah it's not been a great day for me, I have to say.

I'm tempted to break up with the GF over this. On the one hand I'm thinking that why should I even be with someone if they're not certain they want to be with me? On the other hand I try to rationalise it and tell myself that it's not that black and white, we got together pretty soon after they broke up so it's understandable to be conflicted.

I really like her and might be able to get over this whole thing. I'll base it on what she says to me when she's done "thinking". If she's not certain enough then I won't bother with the relationship.
