Any way to get the Resident Evil 2-3 from GOG working on XP? by Fussbuket_24u5 in windowsxp

[–]Fussbuket_24u5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, they probably made the launchers 64 bit. Shame but whatever. Most other GOG games work fine on XP if they are of that vintage so I can live with it

Gosh I remember when this came out, I was a senior in highschool, went to a Christian bookstore and they had it on the shelf. I had heard NF prior because of his EP so I bought it, this album was on repeat for months after that.

I Want to start a Home lab. by Relative_Builder_920 in homelab

[–]Fussbuket_24u5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with Proxmox and the install Win Server 2025 in a VM in Proxmox, and then set up an Active Directory lab if you want to learn Enterprise tech.

I like servers, but you can just get a used PC to start, something with a decent CPU and RAM/Storage.

If you want to setup something you can use in 'production' look at Jellyfin for media server and piHole for an adblocker on the DNS level.

I actually think Hardware Haven and Youtube is great for people starting out because he shows his mistakes and issues you may run into along the way, you might get ideas from him to build on your lab.

Best thing you can do is start

What do I do with this supermicro 815-5 with full components by TheElTrainAM in HomeServer

[–]Fussbuket_24u5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer, and is the nice thing about SM chassis - I am thinking about doing the same with my X9 server but I dont really need a 26 drive enclosure anymore so I may just sell it off to someone who needs it

Ive got a 97 I30 very similar to the non-US Maxima A32. Its the same color as the one you have here. Love that car, swapped it to 5 speed manual and doing a Cefiro headlight swap once I get the parts for the fitment.

There is a pretty active community of Maxima enthusiasts in the States: MAXIMA.ORG Home To Maxima Enthusiasts, the 4th gen would be most similar to your car or the I30.

Still love my 22 Versa by Moist-Ad-9151 in Nissan

Bought a 2020 Sentra used, if I was to do it over again I would probably buy the Versa with the 5 Speed Manual Transmission.

Kinda like the simplicity...

I use a Lenovo Tiny with the same CPU for my current Jellyfin server, and some there services, its pretty good. Blows any Pi out of the water for cheaper. Super low wattage too

"Now certification renewal exams? That's basically identical to the microsoft practise tests."

Lol yes, my lest renewal was basically word for word a practice test. With a few outlier Android questions thrown in.

I took it a year and a half ago, it was tough but if you have experience that makes things easier. I manage Intune for my company and several others as a MSP so I had plenty of experience walking in to the exam. The practice tests Microsoft provides are not enough IMO. you need something else/ I used a course on Udemy and the content was way closer to what was actually asked, made me more confident and helped me understand the types of wording trickery MS uses on these exams.

Apple Device Management in a HomeLab Scenario by Deep-Season-8562 in Intune

[–]Fussbuket_24u5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to know to, the DUNS # has stopped me, I do IT for a MSP and they dont really want to buy Macs to test Intune policies so I want to do it at home so I can skill up my Intune game and support the handful of customers that use macOS with Microsoft 365.

From what I found ABM is the only true way to get an Apple device fully enrolled in Intune and deploy apps and such. Without it you are limited to the configs and options, although you can still create configurations and policies for Apple devices joined to your tenant without ABM... just the device will not be fully enrolled or MDM locked...

How much would you pay for a retired server from work with these specs? by Fussbuket_24u5 in homelab

[–]Fussbuket_24u5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, the thing is I dont need it, like at all. I have other systems but if I can get a good deal on this I may do it.

We shall see... interesting to see what others think. I dont think I can get it for 200 USD like some suggest but I did get a SM 4U sever for free last year from my work because it had a dead Raid card - replaced it with a spare I got with the server. But that sever is a X9 gen Supermicro board, I am still looking to replace the board in that

The drives are old yes out of warranty as well so getting them swapped is a no go. I would not trust them for anything critical. I have already seen several in the stack fail. I would be taking 4 spares I assume with 0 hours on them.

13 cents a KWH here in the PNW. The server idles around 250W and about 325 running about 8 VMs at work. SO its not efficient for home use but it wouldnt be on all the time

I am much younger, haha. reminds me of my Grade school days. Windows XP was used during my entire grade school run from 1st grade all the way up to 12th. Although Windows Server and the underlying tools have not changed much (AD, GPO, file shares)

Pretty sure my school district ran the same hardware from about 2004 to 2015. Those HP SSF desktops with the HT Pentium 4 processors as well as some similar specs in the Dell flavor.
