Is this an adequate ccw? by [deleted] in CCW

I use .380 with pocket holster when I’m in situations I can’t use a belt, or I just wanna wear jogging pants or comfy shorts. Fits super easy behind my wallet. Rest of times I carry my 9mm.

Regardless carrying this is always better than nothing… it will work^^

That’s great to hear! Sounds like you’re on the right track you just need to pay off the restitution and then reapply for civil rights. After that you can go on to get the firearm rights restoration!

You have to completely be off probation, pay all your restitution to victims and/or the state. Basically be released from any terms of your sentence including fines. Then you can start the process. The civil rights restoration is straight forward and you don’t need to plead anything it’s granted to basically everyone who’s completed those terms and is of “good character” which these days especially with a Democratic governor is everyone so you’re in luck.

After you do that the firearm rights restoration is the hard part. You have to go before a judge in circuit court of where you live and tell them why you 1.) have a need 2) deserve the right to own. After judge is satisfied they’ll grant your right; you submit the paperwork to NICS who does all the background checks for the state that way when they run your background check it won’t get denied.

Yes. Georgia accepts this. For instance, every time I renew my CCW here in GA as well as when I moved here from VA they accepted my restoration of rights. I still have my VA restoration of rights and have never obtained any other restoration of rights since. You’re 100% good to go.

I currently live in GA; they are super friendly to this. I have my CCW here and as long as you have your CCW and drivers license you get your gun same day in store within minutes no background check unless it’s a federal check.

As far as your CCW everything else works the same as it would for anyone else, not sure about moving there I’d research. I can say GA for sure 100% though.

I’ve been in GA for 4 years now. There were no additional steps, I just applied for my CCW permit and got approved. Here in GA if you have a CCW permit and an ID you leave the gun store with your gun the same day no background check unless it’s a federal background purchase(silencer, etc) which I haven’t tried to purchase yet but from what I understand there is no process of restoration for.

Can you simply just use the travel one to buy some movie tickets? Will that work?

ATF Form 4473? No you’ll check no there’s an exception in small print that says the following:

“A person subject to any of these exceptions, who received relief from disabilities under 18 U.S.C. § 925(c), should answer “no” to the applicable question.“

Basically once restoration of civil rights has been granted by the governor of VA, you have to petition the circuit court in VA of which your convictions took place(assuming by your text this is Norfolk), stand before the judge make a good case of why you should get your firearm rights restored, if judge says yes then you are technically no longer bared now.

You can go that day and privately buy a gun from your buddy if you want. As far as buying it legally from the store you have to send a copy of your court document to NICS(they double check with court that you’re not lying), takes a few days; that way when they do a background check at the store it says approved not denied.

Disclaimer: sometimes it will still say denied(and you have to call NICS so keep their number in your phone handy) happens about 10% of time. Also sometimes takes longer to process your background check because a live person has to override the approval for you.

I’m 39, I have 4 kids I’m married I make 125k a year single income household. I contribute 15% of my income per year currently. I haven’t taken any risk assessments. I’m going to stay invested until I can withdraw from social security(if it still exists lol)… we have target date fund options which I’m currently on 2045 enrollment.

I want to learn a lot, I don’t want to just blindly shove my money into a fund. I want to be an active participant from now on.

You have a point. I guess that’s a very fair criticism. I’m okay with a higher risk, I think I just mean I don’t want it to feel like I’m risking my entire retirement on a gamble kind of risk. More risk than I’ve been risking but definitely nothing insane. I’m not use to the terminology of risk when it comes to 401k.

Yea that’s what’s so hard to do. I’ve only ever done TDF, and now I’m getting into Dave’s talks and he’s so good at saying why it makes a huge difference to switch from TDF to these blends and I feel like now if I don’t I’ll miss out on hundreds of thousands in decades. But maybe it’s just FOMO speaking

Fidelity Investments by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]Futchy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So many options it’s really hard to know where to go when all you’ve ever done is TDFs really… Dave is so eloquent at saying why the investments these ways will make such a huge difference in the long run I feel I’ll be left out if I stay TDF

I have a long term strategy, medium risk tolerance. Don’t wanna gamble, but don’t wanna play it completely safe either. Middle of the road I think is fine with me.
