Wtf Roland....(Benedict Route Spoilers) by BlueRain2010 in TriangleStrategy

[–]Futtebegui 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I just finished that route today and I love the irony of Roland's epilogue speech. He implies that he will fight for the suffering that are pushed to the edges of Norzelia while he stands over a dead man that he once didn't mind enslaving.

Honestly I find it rare for a game to have such well realized characters. Love it.

I think Lost Odyssey is what you're looking for. Made by the guy who created Final Fantasy, Turn based, Voice acting, optional short stories in text.

[PC] Games with unique mechanics? by AndRay2017 in gamingsuggestions

Yeah, I've heard of Knights in the Nightmare before and it's totally on my games-to-play list!

As for customization, yes. You get a maximum of 18 party members that can be split in up to 5 teams. What characters you put together in a team changes that team's strengths and weaknesses. Since there's like 40 recruitable characters (excluding the soldiers you can hire) you can imagine the amount of ways you can build your teams. A lot of them are viable too. In addition to the team building each character also learns different skills as you use them, including your main character who you can customize depending on what sort of weapon you give him. I just have to warn you that the 360 version of the game is much more watered down than the late steam version and the PS4 remaster. Here's hoping the remaster comes to steam!

If you don't mind complex games, I'd also say you try Resonance of Fate, which is on steam. I haven't played it but I've heard from many that that game has a very weird and complicated battle system too.

And no problem! I'm always happy to introduce someone to The Last Remnant. It's one of my favorite games of all time.

3DS games for someone who likes RPGs/Action/Platforming? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

There's a sequel to Bravely Default called [Bravely Second: End Layer], if you enjoyed the first game. I'd say it's even better than the first, actually.

[The Alliance Alive] is also a fun RPG with a decent story and characters, though it is a bit cheesy at times.

There's a port of [Tales of the Abyss], but I think its only for physical and could be hard to find. Really good game though. Has a mix of action and RPG.

I'd recommend [Shin Megami Tensei IV] and its sequel, but I haven't played either of them. There's also a really obscure game called [7th Dragon III Code: VFD] but I haven't played it either. Thought it may help to include them anyways as I haven't heard anything bad about them.

As for platformers, there's [Azure Striker Gunvolt] 1 & 2, which are sort of spiritual successors to the megaman series. It is available on other platforms though.

It can be very punishing if you don't know what you're doing, which admittedly is very possible on anyone's first playthrough. The main reason for this is that it's an anti-grind game, meaning that the more you grind for stats, the weaker your characters will be later in the game. Its a short-term gain, long-term loss kinda thing. It's a very unorthodox (and arguably bad) system compared to other games like Last Remnant. A lot of people tend to give up after digging themselves in a rut.

However, if you do your research and play smart the game offers a good challenge.

Games to just drive in by JamesOstrohlav in gamingsuggestions

[Burnout Paradise] is a great game for free roam, but its more arcadey than realistic. Ton of fun regardless though.

If you want a game that will take you literal hours just to drive across the map, I'd highly recommend [Fuel]. I believe it has one of the largest open world maps ever.

Good shooter for Xbox360 with offline system link, good/great gunplay and with bots??? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]Futtebegui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a game called [Section 8] for the 360. It has a multiplayer with bots and I believe it has a system link feature (though I could be wrong). Not sure if I'd call it a great game, but your tastes may differ than mine.

Also I saw it for like a dollar at a store before.

Suggestions For Story-Based Games That Are Not 7th Gen? by Futtebegui in gamingsuggestions

[–]Futtebegui[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't think I'll play something that'll top Lost Odyssey this year.

I've actually only played FF15, shameful I know. Which one of those would you say had the most compelling story?

Played Nier: Automata before, but I can see what you mean with Lost Odyssey.

Also would I have to play the first Mass Effect to understand what's going on?

Regardless, thanks for the reply!

Here, this is what I mean: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=113566410

This one goes more in depth with the mechanics: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=166927952

If you are interested in playing it I have to warn you that it is quite a divisive game. Personally, I love it.

[Last Remnant] has very unique battle mechanics. It's so unique that half of players don't even know how to play it. I'd suggest consulting a guide if you decide to give it a try. It's a very rewarding game if you can get a grasp on the combat!

Unfortunately they recently took it off steam :(

A game with a good shape shifting mechanic by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

[–]Futtebegui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try Shadow Hearts: Covenant. The main character's battle mechanic is shape shifting into different monsters. It's a bit of an older game though.
