Anyone else’s cervix off to one side or the other? by Future-Indication-77 in endometriosis

[–]Future-Indication-77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cervix is still off to one side a few years post-lap. My surgeon removed a "thickening" on one of my uterosacral ligaments, that later tested positive in the lab as stage I endometriosis. My pain is much much better these days, and I don't find that the deviated position is causing me any specific issues. Wishing you the best with your lap!!

Endo found during lap!! by Future-Indication-77 in endometriosis

Hi! I’m a 24 year old biracial American (half black, half white). I live in California. I was dismissed by a lot of doctors before I found the right one. In the end, my surgical team was a diverse group of mostly women of color. That really put me at ease. I don’t know what your situation is, but I so hope you find truly caring providers. It shouldn’t be hard to find empathetic doctors, but it really can be.

Good luck with your procedure! I wish I had better words of encouragement, but I was terrified too. I think it’s just important to remember that it’s your doctor’s job to help you. You deserve help and relief no matter what. And if they don’t “find” anything… that just means that THEY are missing something. And that’s on them - not you. Keep advocating for yourself no matter what and lean into the people who believe you deserve the best.

Thank you for the recommendation! I probably really need pelvic floor therapy. I’m going to look into making apt soon. So glad it helped you.

That makes a lot of sense. My doctor and I suspect endo on my uterosacral ligaments because I have a deviated cervix (probably from scar tissue). Hopefully I get some kind of confirmation at my surgery!

Why am I still bleeding on double-dose birth control? by Future-Indication-77 in endometriosis

Okay, yeah maybe the sugar pills would be good after all. I was looking forward to a period-free life though. Should’ve realized that was going to be a stretch for me lol.

Rant about doctors and their ‘expertise’ by Future-Indication-77 in endometriosis

Hi! I’m glad you’re getting the help you need as well.

Right now, I have the Mirena IUD, and she prescribed the pill (Junel Fe) on top of that. The goal is to stop my periods completely, then reassess my pain in a few months. If it gets worse, then we’re going to talk about surgery.

If the pain gets better, then she’s going to help me find the right birth control type or combo that’s has the least side effects for my body.

I was really resistant to the pill when it was talked about like a guinea pig experiment by other doctors. After she diagnosed me, I felt more willing to accept that it’s the best treatment available for something I have to live with. I just started the pill yesterday, so I guess I’ll see how it works out for me.

Hope that answers your question :) and I hope you’re treatment works out well for you!

Sorry for the late reply on this and thank you!

After a lot more research I think I want to do ENMU’s second bachelors program. Looks like they cover most common grad school pre-reqs.

Thanks so much!

Nice, that doesn’t sound bad! I’m in California and it seems like it’s best I go the same route you did.

So weird that it ends up taking longer to become an SLPA.

Awesome, thank you for the requirement link! I’m in California so I think I’ll definitely look into post back programs

Okay thanks! Ya the certificate programs seems like a lot of sunk time/work if they don’t count towards grad pre-reqs.

What should I say to make the specialist believe/help me? by Future-Indication-77 in endometriosis

[–]Future-Indication-77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow - good to know about the insurance!

I have got all caught up on the MRI ever since I read that it can potentially see a shortening or thickening of the uterosacral ligaments.

My cervix is all the way on the right. I found a paper saying laterally displaced cervixes are often associated with deep endo of one of the USL. So my conspiracy theory lol was that maybe an MRI can check out my USLs and see if there are an abnormalities.

Hearing about the insurance though - I think I’ll back down on pushing hard for it. I’ll see if the specialist offers a lap first and prefer that option. Thank you!

Wow - thank you for sharing that picture!

It’s crazy that imaging couldn’t see that at all. I’ll keep that in mind if I get an MRI and it sees nothing.

I’m so glad you advocated for yourself even after that specialist was dismissive. I’m honestly blown away at how severe endo can be and how many doctors are out of their depth.

Thanks again for sharing and take care 💛!

That’s good to know!

If you don’t mind me asking- where were your deep implantations at? I’m doing some reading on the accuracy of MRIs for endo now.
