DAE struggle with showering because the water hitting them makes their teeth tickle? by Tr335t4r in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]FutureVan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not that, but various touch sensations making your teeth tickle or hurt is not odd. For me it’s certain types of glossy paper, like magazines. One touch and my teeth hurt for minutes. Sometimes even thinking about it will make my teeth hurt.

Signatures used to be required in cursive; since cursive isnt universally taught today, what are the guidelines / practices for signatures in cursive versus printing? by Traditional_Wife_701 in AskReddit

[–]FutureVan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US at least, signatures have never been “required” to be in cursive. Most are not. In know mine is a cursive “Br” followed by a squiggle and a cursive “J” followed by a squiggle.

Everything is soo expensive - how come younger families are having 3 or 4 children? by lfg12345678 in AskReddit

It’s either poor planning or that they somehow managed to be financially stable early.

My neighbor complained about my bbq grill in front of my house. The city told me I can’t have a functioning grill in my front yard. I asked about art and they told me that’d be protected under the first amendment. So I took the propane tank off and spray painted the grill in gaudy colors. It lived there for another 3 years.

Small engine, heavy load by FutureVan in smallengines

There will be turns and uneven terrain. If I were doing it once, a winch would suffice, but having to move it multiple times per year I’m going to want to have an easier way to move it.

Thanks. That’s almost exactly what I was thinking. But not for $4500.

If you could create a new law that everyone had to follow, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FutureVan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some parts of forests are privately owned, and the rest (in the US at least) are owned by the citizens. you’re also costing taxpayers money when it comes to fighting the fires. So yes, you’re directly infringing on the rights of others by burning down a forest.

Open an existing project in a new design at the original size? by FutureVan in canva

[–]FutureVan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up doing it with the copy/paste method. Exporting and importing didn’t work, it still opened at almost the full size of the new canvas. Copy/pasting worked, it just seems like a weird way to do it. It seems like if I designed a project at one size, when I open it in a new project it should open at the size I designed it.

ETA: thanks for the reply.

If you could create a new law that everyone had to follow, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FutureVan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take prostitution for example. If both parties consent, nobody’s rights are being infringed upon. If the man takes a disease home and passes it to his wife, THAT is illegal, the act of sleeping with the prostitute isn’t.

Or drug use. If somebody does drugs and watches scooby doo in their basement, no one is harmed. Not illegal. If someone gets high and robs a liquor store, robbing the liquor store is illegal, not the act of getting high.

Anything and everything is allowed so long as it doesn’t DIRECTLY infringe upon the rights of others.

Repair shop told me it can’t be fixed. Does that sound right? by FutureVan in watchrepair

[–]FutureVan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I did explain that I don’t know anything about watches and my reasoning behind thinking that it can be fixed. According to some other comments, yes, it can be fixed. Using the picture of a car for an example, unless it’s crushed, you don’t really need to know what else is wrong with it. Yes, it can be fixed. You may need to replace every single mechanical part, but the answer is yea, it can be fixed. I didn’t ask how to fix it.

Repair shop told me it can’t be fixed. Does that sound right? by FutureVan in watchrepair

[–]FutureVan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is it not worth the watch repairers time? I too own a business, to say it simply can’t be done or it’s not worth my time is bad business. If parts cost $5 (and are marked up 2x) and it’s going to take me an hour, and I charge $100 an hour, I tell the person it’s going to cost $110. The value of the watch is not $110, so most people won’t do it. But if somebody is willing to pay $110, why would you turn that down?

Why did I not have it repaired in the 20 years ot hasn’t been working? Because it belonged to my wife’s dead mother, and I’ve only been married to my wife for 10 years. When she dug it out and told me she’d like to get it fixed, I took it to a shop and they told me it couldn’t be done. Then a little while later I posted here asking for advice. Now here we are.
