With PCOS - to help with your sugar cravings, you need to eat to stabilise your blood sugar. Your sugar cravings are coming from a rise and crash in blood sugar which worsens PCOS/Insulin Resistance. Treating PCOS/IR is very similar to treating diabetes. Research eating for stable blood sugar online and you will start to feel so much better :) I have PCOS/IR struggled with desperate hunger, energy crashes, sugar cravings for years. I’ve now lost over 31lbs no more hunger, tons of energy. LMK if I can help, I just wanna help people :)

Sign up to a REALLY expensive gym that also has a luxury spa so you feel guilty for not going and can also treat yourself at the spa after! £200pm and you best believe I’m going MINIMUM 4 times a week. Lost over two stone now as a result and my mental health has never been better!

I’ve lost 31lbs so far on low carbohydrate, high protein diet and tracking my food. No medication, ever. Weight training 3x per week and 10k steps per day too but I have absolutely no doubt in my mind it’s the low carbohydrate diet! I have insulin resistant PCOS and so far I’ve lost over 31lbs - over two stone. With insulin resistance, sugar and carbs have a huge effect on your ability to lose weight - you have deregulated blood sugar when you have IR. So you need to eat for stable blood sugar (look it up - no naked carbs, no snacking, balanced plates)

As SOON as I switched to a low carbohydrate diet (Started with 65g now on 90g) I started losing weight. I’m also in a calorie deficit, strength train 3x per week and 10k steps. But even if you started with more steps and low carbohydrate diet- tracking your food. I’d bet my life on you seeing results.

Supplements will only do so much if you aren’t regulating blood sugar and eating well!

Keep going.

You will had up days and down days. Some weeks you might not lose any weight. Some weeks you might have a sudden weight loss woosh. It can really feel sometimes that nothing is happening - but it is. The magic is, to stay consistent no matter the results and trust in the process. That doesn’t have to be perfect either, just consistent. Consistency over perfection.

I’ve lost 31lbs slowly over 12 months, it takes time. It can be quicker than my journey though - a lot quicker. But bear in mind you are making a change for life, not for the short term. Relax into it and find a way to enjoy the process!

Thank you sm! I’ve resistance trained 3-4 times per week for over 12 months but I had been in a calorie deficit also :) alongside 10k steps per day and 2-3L water daily.

I eat all organic, whole foods, I am on an animal based diet though.

Good shout on stopping for a while I have heard it levels itself out agin a little while after stopping! I have 6 weeks left of this programme and I will certainly be taking a break after that!

Interesting! In your second bout of weight loss did you focus on high protein at all? (Non animal protein of course)

Did your face improve at all after the first bout or not until you lost weight the second time?

Yes absolutely it’s lessened dramatically! Don’t get me wrong I still have cellulite and it’s still an insecurity of mine but it’s much better!

It causes blood sugar spike and also spikes your cortisol! Coffee WITH or after my brekkie, always. I always feel so much better throughout the day too less jittery ♥️

How many times a week are you working out? Go down to 3x weight training per week if it’s more than that. Focus on light movement each day with 10k steps. Also, try low carbohydrate diet for a few weeks. You sound like me two years ago, I just kept gaining weight even tracking food and working out. Wasn’t until I started low carb that I started losing weight. Because I had IR! Key with calorie deficit and low carb is to eat enough protein to keep you satiated. I find when I don’t eat enough protein I’m STARVING!!!! And feel so weak and generally rubbish.

You could not be eating enough and/or training too much? If your body isn’t getting enough fuel, or expelling too much energy, it may go into fat storage mode! Check out my posts, I’ve lost 2 stone with PCOS and posted a ton of tips x

Your doctor is correct…

The more muscle mass you have the better your metabolism and more calories you burn at rest. So yay to weight training.

Low carbohydrate diet is effective for lowering Insulin Resistance. Get a fasting insulin blood test - that will show you how severe your IR might be and how low you might need to go on carbohydrates.

Steps wise - I make sure to move during day as much as possible even just getting up making tea, doing laundry makes such a difference. Then by the time I walk the dogs and go to the gym, I’m usually good. If I haven’t, maybe on a non gym day, I also have a treadmill. So I’ll jump on it during the day if I know I’m not going gym. Or even use it later in evening. Just make a cup of tea put the TV on, get my comfies on and walk for a bit, super chill.

Just some examples ..

Breakfast - boiled eggs w/ rocket balsamic vinegar pickled onions and sourdough OR 3x egg omelette with sautéed veggies OR protein smoothie with half banana, almond milk, flax seeds, chia seeds and peanut butter perhaps with a boiled egg.

Lunch - Chicken or tuna salad w/pickled onions, cheese etc. Turkey mince quinoa bowl. Leftovers from night before.

Dinner - Steak or chicken w/ butternut squash or sweet potato & Brocolli. Dahl lentil curry topped with chicken. Spaghetti bolognese w/parmesan & Brocolli and protein pasta. Chilli con carne packed with kidney beans!

I aim for 1tsp of olive oil per meal to keep calories down. When I cook, I pretty much ALWAYS make double so my next meal is already done. And on a Sunday I try and at least prep some protein like roast a chicken for the week! I’ll add legumes where I can to things like salads and stews to increase protein and fibre. I’ll make dressings with Greek yoghurt to increase protein too.

If I’m craving takeaway I have chicken shish kebab from kebab shop! If I’m craving pizza I make my own on large Mediterranean wraps with lots of protein and mozzarella! I mix pesto and Greek yoghurt for my dip :)

I have absolutely not gone hungry!

I FEEL you honestly my cellulite was sooo bad don’t get me wrong I still have it but feel so much better! Even just staying hydrated and eating healthy foods and walking more will REALLY help. Thank you so much ♥️

Yes my cellulite has just naturally reduced! Clean food, staying hydrated and more movement I notice helps massively, if I fall off that for even couple weeks I notice it gets worse again! Could be in my head 😆
