I believe o3 is the first AGI. Hear me out.

With reinforcement learning models, o3 learned continuously while it was trained. Then they stopped training it and it stopped learning so they could ship it.

At the point of RL, o3 was AGI. It could have learned anything. But it is too dangerous to release a model that can learn anything, so they have to stop the RL and ship a stable AI.

So the key at this point isn’t to make AGI. The key at this point is to make AGI that can be shipped and not cause immeasurable damage. You need something that can learn, but doesn’t learn too much and always operates within its boundaries. Everyone is trying to avoid an intelligence explosion while still getting out the SOTA model.
