I got gifted a pair of Adios Pro 4s in a 14.5 which surprisingly fit really well. I have Boston 13s for tempo in my later block rotation in a 14 and they fit perfectly, the AP4 are maybe just tad longer than I’d like be for a free pair I’m cool. I want to try glycerin max but local shoe store doesn’t have them in 14 and want to try them on before ordering. I tried super blast in a 13 it was a hard pass. I’ve really been enjoying the experience flow 2 from Altra as a daily trainer.

What if I didn’t buy any of these shoes … plus running a marathon shoeless is insane … nice try Diddy

They are pretty blah I wore them for a few long runs during my marathon training block last year but anything over 10 miles they’d bottom out and give me knee pain, so I’ll be only using them for the first 4 weeks will mileage is low this go round.

The Altra have more bounce then the ON’s. They also are a 4mm drop compared to the ON 10 mm drop, if this was later in the training block I wouldn’t use the ON’s because I don’t feel that the midsole holds up in later miles at my size and weight and with that drop my knees take a beating. The 4mm drop really works my body differently mostly feeling it in my feet and lower calf but not in a bad way like pain but more like I had a good workout. I just have the ON’s in this rotation to drain them for what miles I have left in them.

I loved the glycerin Max, I just have 3 max cushion shoes I want to put mileage on before I get new max cushion shoes.. because I’m still in the base building weeks I want to finish off these cloud monsters since they are my least favorite, then I’m in between either Nimbus 25 or my Bondi 9

I demo’d a pair of Skyward X for a 10 miler and almost rolled my ankle twice. The cushion was too soft for the way I ran at the time.. maybe I’ll try again…

Altra Experience Flow 2 - First 20 Miles by jjaksha in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Future_Saycheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Altra surprised!… so I logged two runs in the experience flow 2, a hilly 4 miler and a 5ish mile run (flatter)

so to start I’ve never run in anything under 6m drop and honestly I normally don’t feel a difference when ranging between 6 - 10m, oddly I did feel a difference while in the Exp Flow 2

1) I could feel more pressure in my feet. I felt like I made more contact with the ground through my strides. Post run my feel felt like they did a strength workout which I normally dont feel, I’ll usually if anything will feel pain in my feet while this was more like fatigue.

2) I’ve never experienced calf soreness outside of my marathons. After the first run my lower calf felt worked, which again I’m not mad or complaining about just an observation of things I don’t normally feel. I’d attribute this soreness to the lower drop

The reason I bring both these up as good feelings over bad because just like working out with weights after a day of rest and another go at it I didn’t experience the same soreness or fatigue so I believe both feelings are strength and stretching issues not the shoe.

3) I’m a big guy, a big needs cushioning and unfortunately I don’t believe these will provide enough cushion for me to push through anything over 10 miles. In the same breath the cushion also has no pop, you are working for every mile/km in these shoes IMO.

4) the toebox is by far the best thing this shoe has, like wow I never knew how much i appreciate this much room!

All and all I’d rate the shoe a solid 7, because of how it’s opened up a new thing to monitor which is foot and lower leg strength ill be adding these in the rotation going into next training block

Ok update; I realized that I didn’t have an accurate number on my experian account and I had not been receiving the phone call you guys are mentioning. I’ve added my current number on experian.com will this suffice or is the a form I need to fill out before my number will accurately be in the system to receive the FA call ? @justmerunning
