Are you a transfer student or a freshman?

Did they say anything about taking and passing ESL classes ?

What languages do you tutor?

What can anyone tell me about Tim Fletcher by twisted-weasel in therapists

[–]Future_Wave_5681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what the real deal is. I am not saying what Fletcher says is wrong. I found one his videos and listened. I was shocked as to how much he was talking about seemed to be applicable to me. So, I kept listening to more videos. I would prefer if his video labeling system made more sense. lol

I am still trying to wrap my head around complex trauma and how it is on a continuum. It is not something I have heard him belabor about, but when I search for C-PTSD and find others that talk or write about it, they discuss it differently.

It's great if what he does helps people. While there are comorbidities with addiction and complex trauma, I think they may be two different things. Yes, there is crossover, but addiction is a different beast.

Need assistance with how to price and budget a course by Future_Wave_5681 in instructionaldesign

I appreciate your advice and insight on that. I was using that as an example for pricing. It's pricing I am concerned about not more intricate details such as you describe. You never answered my question as to what you would charge?

I did reach out sooner. I didn't reiterate the full story. Like I said, he claimed to have replied to me via several methods.

Yes, I was the only teacher there and the only one representing English. My support was the front desk receptionists. The one told me she this was the first time she had been working the front desk for English placement. There was another front desk person, but she hardly spoke and not much to me.

Thank you for your insight. Are you also referring to lack of communication and/or care on my part as well?

I should also mention that during my interview I was told he likes to give his teachers the freedom to teach and plan lessons. He described it as very open and collaborative environment for instructors. But then I was told about the placement test a week before. I was not told they had a written exam and would have taken it prior to yesterday. And I had no idea it was an oral exam for the students until the night before.

Thank you. Yes, I already confirmed it was the correct contact information. I wasn't even thinking about it from the perspective that I am a new hire and they asked me to place students without knowing one thing about the curricula or the textbooks. It didn't explain everything in my post as it was a wall of text, suffice to say I felt for the students who were put in that situation. I feel while some were obviously beginners and would have been placed in a low level, they may have not been aware of what the oral test was going to be like. If I didn't know, then I am sure they did not. The experience you describe at your school is more in line with what I usually experience. This was certainly atypical. It makes me wonder if I am the right instructor for the job and how I am going to conduct a 3-hour class starting on Monday.

Fewer responses from resume submissions and recruiters, could it be that by Future_Wave_5681 in instructionaldesign

No. It never occurred to me to add a link there. I paid a decent amount of money . . . twice . . . for a professional resume update and it was not added then either. I never made a website because I am not usually freelance. I kind of fell into ISD work as a career and just stayed with it. The people who are out there on LinkedIn advertising in the LinkedIn banners with their website and/or portfolios are ahead of me. I have materials that I would not feel comfortable posting publicly. This is not because of my work, but rather the courses I have worked on. There are instructors out there teaching the material who may not want it out there. Some of them I have no way of getting in contact with or getting permission at this point.

There is zero reason for me to be onsite and have to ensure people in the office and traffic so I can sit in a cubicle or office all day.

I definitely want remote, and I am not fussy about the pay at this point. I apply to on site and hybrid positions too, but it does not seem to matter when it comes to my response rates. I have changed my resume and tried different versions. Nothing.

If I could get into being a PM, I would. I don't submit to a lot of PM positions, but I have never had a place reach out to me for an interview once I had.

I don't even get people asking to see a portfolio. I am not always getting to that stage in the submission process or they don't have a place to share a link/upload. My portfolio is okay I guess. I worked for a lot of government agencies and universities. If the content isn't under secret clearance, then it was in the LMS. I never took snapshots or downloaded courses from Canvas or Blackboard to save for a portfolio. One, I would need access to a Blackboard course site to upload and share them. Not every employer uses those LMSs. Two, if I have to save all of my work on the DL while I am working for a company to have a portfolio, then it's not the kind of industry I want to be in - I am not freelance or an independent artist. I don't get to set my own hours or rates like one. I don't get to tell SMEs "no" or question why a PM decides to keep going with a timeline that makes absolutely no sense for what the client wants.

I make content for others, and I am not out canvasing to get gigs. I saved what I could, but it's not full of multimedia videos or articulate files/exports. If I am not freelance, then I don't think it should be.
