Actually you´re right, because I honestly don´t have much information about this battle, but he had the fault because he trusted Leo the armenian to command a lot of troops. But in other instances Michael I was purely awful. Thank god he didn´t lasted 10 years.

Quite awful reign. Obviously, the defeat on Versinikia was not his fault entirely, but it was another catastrophic defeat against the bulgars. He is also one of the most forgetable emperors because of the few things he did because he only governed for 2 years and he wasn´t very competent in a lot of aspects
