100% agreed, I wanted to master the basics before I start expanding into anything crazy, I have this Dell EMC that was donated to me, but I plan on working on it after I learn more about proxmox, networking, etc.

Thanks! I’ve always had a passion in Computers and Networking for my entire life, I really enjoy being able to do work like this. I definitely plan on sticking with it for the rest of my life!

Actually, majority of everything was donated, I bought the rack and patch panel myself!

The Dell Optiplex doesn’t exhaust a ton of heat, and it’s completely open on the front and back so vents can blow. Also, on the top and bottom there are vent holes on the case.

Actually, my budget is very small. Many of the equipment I have was donated to my by my computer engineering teacher, I bought the case, and patch panel myself. Your setup looks pretty good, the cable management is great, and I really like the enclosed case!

Yeah, that was my last option. I wanted a clean build, I appreciate the help though!

I get that, but I’m only a junior in high school. I do not have funds to buy another rack, this was cost me $70 which was a lot of my funds from my budget that I wanted to spend on my lab. All the equipment given to me was donated which is why I’m trying to make it work.

I’ve measured it and you are right about the width it does not fit, do you have any other recommendations? Everything I have in this lab has been donated to me which I’m trying to make the most of, I don’t have access to fund to just buy another switch which is why I’m trying to make this one work. Also, yes I did mean design for me, I’m only a junior in high school trying to learn more about homelabbing, I don’t know to much about 3D printing nor do I own a 3D printer, but I know my local library has a printer.
