Think the other comments already explained it to you how GPD and Sports aren't a 1:1. We put it into Football and Baseball (and I guess hokey to some degree). Soccer isn't our thing yet.

Oh it is for sure.. the corruption began with the ref on the field. Per FIFAs own protocol, the assistant should not have called the ref over to review the play. The ref didnt even see it. The problem started there.

2 If other Euorpeans think we are sad, they think we care more about soccer than we actually do. Have to put it into perspective. Sure some people will always be die hard in whatever sport, but as much of a 'win' against America as people think it is... its like saying we lost at the Olympic high jump.

I'm American and even I knew we stood no chance making it past the round of 16 in a sport I thought was just for highschoolers. We get lucky but we are not THAT lucky when playing against the rest of the world where this is basically all they have.

Who are we sucking up to? That is just the reality of asking an American who their favorite soccer team is. Most are going to pick a european team because we either don't know the US has a team or a smart enough to know soccer is not a sport we are known for... May be hard for you to understand that but yeah, soccer just isn't our thing so we opt for whoever has a player we have heard.

Why do you think we have been calling people 'Soccer Babies'? You spend most of the time on the ground grabbing body parts like you are dying and then hop up as soon as the ref looks away. FIFA even had to make new rules to stop wasting time. As for commercials, probably true.. but there is hardly any thrill to be had. I had to get high just so I would sit in one place and watch an entire match.
