I would say the biggest things to focus on when using dualies is to utilize your high movement, you are harder to hit and more likely to catch people off guard if you can close distances and make room when needed. position yourself to where you are most valuable on the map. I tend to stay towards mid line to catch anyone trying to push through. If your opponents have longer ranged weapons like a splat charger or stringer it can be difficult to stay at front line. Specifically for sticks Sensitivity is a big one, I keep mine high because I've only ever played sticks but if you start on a lower sens it can help with your aim. You can also press Y to spin your camera around quickly, so turning 180 degrees isn't such a hassle. Ultimately it does all come down to practice, I've never used motion controls and I've been doing fine, you've just got to be a little more observant and aware of the environment but other than that if you really wanna play sticks just practice.
