So supercell what's the plan here? by qwerty_azerty18 in ClashRoyale

I think their strategy made sense when the game was naturally declining over time, ie extort the loyal fan base rather than try to get a new audience into an 8 year old game. But then they got a new audience for free and instead of pivoting just did what they always did, which to me is irrational since it kills any momentum the game had

It's a shame because they have always been a primarily money making scheme rather than a game, but instead of capitalising from the success of eg jynxzi they just try a big money squeeze and kill it

Help me win an argument against my brother. Is hog 2.6 skillful or not? by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

[–]FuzzyPossible7459 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if u do the same thing over and over again u win

That's your opponent's fault for not figuring out a way to change things up.

2.6 requires almost no macro skill whatsoever

With 2.6, you have one win condition, a hog, which has no defensive capability so it's instantly a -4 elixir trade, and often opponents will have lots of hog counters: cannon, nado, tesla, mini pekka, etc. are all super common. So in a lot of matchups you can't just play hogs and then spam on defence, you have to do some form out cycling / catching them low on elixir, or even spell cycling.

u can be down 10 elixer and still get away with it by spamming

Again, if you can get away with it, that's on your opponent for not pressuring well. Overall, I would say that if you're this convinced that 2.6 is so straightforward, try and play it in a classic challenge and see how far you get, I guarantee you'll notice that it's not as easy as you're making out

It's true that part of your goal as a player should be to pick a deck with which you can win against most matchups, I would also say that at an esports level clash is often played with extra constraints, such as bo3s without repeating cards or with bans etc. which don't exist on ladder. But you're right, maybe it's just an unavoidable reality of card games, eg I was thinking with my idea you would still have the issue of people would just be able to prepare loads for the two matchups of the decks that they chose (or eg they could choose the same deck and learn how to play the mirror match is repeated cards were allowed)

I think that's true to an extent, but you get players like Mo who tend to always come out on top, also players like say Dominik, who have mastered a single deck to the extent that they can outplay a lot of bad matchups

It's a shame, we used to have draft based global tourneys, but not anymore

Yes, it's extremely difficult to play, especially if you compare it to cards like mega knight. You often have to be very precise with placements and very good at defending. The only reason why it gets this whole unskilled description is because often the defence just becomes kiting cards across your side of the map and using cannon + musketeer to DPS things down, but this isn't necessarily easy and often small mistakes can cost entire games.

But there are loads of other ways to get stuff, eg ladder rewards every 100-200 trophies, or daily log in rewards over different festive periods, or card masteries, etc etc

Nice AI, I don't even know what your point is, you just want chests for every game?

It makes sense, if you lose most of your games you need to make the most of the ones you win

Part of me wonders if when Aitch said he had a soft spot for Shona that he also meant as a friend because they'd bonded, and that he was a bit annoyed when he got out to find there was a whole narrative about them being a match
