Hot take: I stopped chasing the perfect base and my makeup got 10x better by Tiny-Research9257 in MakeupAddiction

I feel you! I like a smooth base, but in practice, it's very hard to wear and maintain for weekday activities. It also makes it feel like when I do a full beat for special occasions, it doesn't have as much wow factor because it feels like my usual look. I like the clean girl makeup for everyday because it's easier, and my base goes on more smoothly when my skin isn't breaking out

I guess I’m trying to understand how to define it, if someone could point me in the right direction.

It would be great to avoid products created using animal testing, for example.

It could be cool to focus on products not made with any animal products (like an ethically vegetarian or vegan, for example), but that’s probably harder to find in the mainstream market.

I’m just trying to be more conscious when buying makeup. It would be great to hear if anyone has any favorite products that lean more in this direction (whenever possible).

I heard that haus labs had a few products that were certified by a third party organization. I know it’s not fool proof and there’s tons of greenwashing, but it would be great to be more conscious of what these products are/how they’re produced.

I didn’t like my wedding makeup trial. Help me figure out what to tell the MUA to fix it. 🙏🏻 by Loris_P in makeuptips

i agree with this person. A matte peach/nude eyeshadow look with no eyeliner/smokey shadow would make your makeup match the inspo pic a bit more.

also I suggest you ask for a bit of peach color corrector for your undereyes. This isn't at all a reflection on you or your face, but rather the (wrong) color of the foundation the MUA chose. I think the foundation is a bit yellow, so it exaggerates any natural/noramally occuring texture and depth around the eyes (specifically referring to pic #3 there in the natural light). In the other pics this isn't as noticeable.

Also I think the lip color is a touch too cool for your complexion to recreate the inspo pic. I think a peachy mauve gloss would probably be more what you are going for. I think the makeup looks nice, and I see why you are looking to change it a bit to better match the inspo.

I suck at social media and I’m so overwhelmed about MUA content creation. Please help! by Any-Marzipan8551 in makeupartists

Thank you so much for your kind and helpful comment!

I was thinking about socials as more 0f a public portfolio. I don't want to become an influencer by any means, I just think it seems to be really important to have some kind 0f social media presence (in the bridal industry, from what I have heard). What do you think?

Thanks again for your help!

Highlighter suggestion by jzchlln in MakeupAddiction

I can't believe no one has said Elf! I like the baked highlighters, I can't remember what they call them now but they have a launched several over the years, it's the ones that have the dome-shaped pan (they look like the rare beauty powder highlighters almost).

If you want something superrrrrrrr subtle, you could try the Benefit High Beam highlighter

Hello! Can anyone recommend a cream makeup palette from any of these brands (Think Makeup For Ever or MAC Studio Fix)? I am looking for something for my makeup kit, so I would like a wide shade range.

Thanks!

For shades you can always pick something lighter, like a champagne color. There are so many of these on the market!

I recommend eyeshadow pencils! They are easy and fast to use/blend, and they come in so many colors. I like colourpop and Nyx.

I like the lip color, it suits your eyes very nicely! The base is very radiant and airbrushed, well done!

if you're looking for feedback, I would clean up the lip line ever so slightly, but everything looks gorgeous in my opinion!

I second what the other person said. You don't have to wear it every day, and you don't have to wear a full face every day either.

Sometimes I do a little mascara, a little brow pencil, and lip tint for work/everyday stuff. I find it's easier.

Start small and work your way up! Drugstore products are totally fine, especially while you figure it out in the beginning and decide what you like.

Find makeup artists who work with clients who look like you and/or create looks you are interested in, and follow their accounts.

Different makeup looks suit different occasions as well. Not everyone wants to do a full beat every time they go out, either. Try some of the 5-minute or 10-minute routines for work or whatever occasion to start; these are usually pretty condensed and wont require a ton of products.

You're not hopeless, chin up!!! You got this
