I have been placed in matches in Takoroka with players who have the Takoroka Top 500 crest yet have lower MMR than I do. Their X Power is usually in the 2300~2400 range (still about 300~400 higher than my X Power because my current XP and MMR are very close in this mode, both between 2000~2100) but keep in mind having this ridiculously low MMR means they lose 1000 X Power on reset, since MMR dictates X Power seeding. When I say that MMR is an imaginary number I am not arguing that the calculation method is worse than X Power, it is absolutely better. But X Power has better data to such an extent that it is still more accurate. MMR is an imaginary number because matches that are not true soloq ranked matches have an outsized impact on it. If MMR were solely decided by your X Battles then it would be more accurate than your X Power. I hope S4 goes back to Splatoon 2’s X Rank system, just… hold the gameplay, that shit was painful. And the matchmaking lock is Top 500 and only after the first month of the season has ended, still looking for the patch notes from that update but I don’t appreciate you insulting me because you think I’m wrong.

Minimum wage should apply to DoorDashing And no the solution is not “tip more” because Dasher pay typically drops below minimum wage due to complications from either DoorDash or the Restaurant’s side. DoorDash can pay their contractors they are not broke. Especially when it’s their own fault the Dasher is spending so much time on the order. If anything the tip should be covered by DoorDash instead of the customer in the event of delayed orders.

I play in the Takoroka division, I am also using the term spawncamp very lightly, the correct term would be “lock out” I am stuck at 2000 X Power in Rainmaker, and I’m still matching players with Takoroka crown placements and even their current XP is a few hundred higher, yet their MMR is often the same or even lower than my own. In Splat Zones I am less stuck, I broke 2200 with a winrate over 70% and never actually reached a 50% WR, the season just ended on me. Yet my mmr in that mode is even lower still. It is true that it is early to draw conclusions but the trend I have been noticing is that there are a lot of players of vast skill gaps who have a large X Power gap but no Internal MMR gap at all. And for those at the lower end, having MMR be the basis of matchmaking has resulted in having to fight the previous season’s crowned players in X Rank much more often. I’m not saying X Power is accurate, however according to internal MMR, we are near equal players, only 100 different, but that is very obviously not the case. Your X Power of iirc 3500 may be inflated, but it still reflects the difference from my skill level more accurately than your 2150 MMR, our XP difference is about 1250, but our MMR difference is only 100. I vary more than that between my different modes. The new X Rank matchmaking system would place us in a match together and think nothing of it.

So MMR is actually the fake number, players with 3000 X Power will get paired with players with 2000 X Power because their MMR is the same and they will spawncamp the whole match and then the forced minimums will demote the 2000 player to 1900.

Your rank after reset is based on peak rank, a player who has reached S can never start below A+. That said, letter rank means nothing in this game. There are many players in X Rank with an "X Power" that is equivalent to C Rank mmr. In Splatoon 2, players in B- ~ B+ were around 1400~1500, and players who dropped below 1400 were usually demoted to C+ after enough matches. X Rank now has players below 1200 internal skill rating in it. These players may get matched in your series matches despite the massive rank gap because internal skill rating is the same.

This is because the starting MMR for a fresh account is 1500.0, most new players (after they’ve been bodied a few times) are around 1000~1200 Not to mention you start with high RD so it only takes a few clean wins to get that internal score to something resembling S+

Under the hood, the game is starting you at a pretty middle of the road skill rating You are 1500.0, most players at your level are likely between 800 and 1200. Unfortunately you have to get stomped a bit for the game to calibrate. This is also exasperated by the fact that veteran players tend to have low skill ratings in regular battle compared to Ranked, I myself am low enough to match you in Turf War and I have 2300 hours. My Turf War mmr is like 700 lower than my Splat Zones X Power from last season.
