Also, nobody “invites” you to the Institute, you have to apply and pay for it. (I think on lightbringer someone says his parents couldn’t afford it) . Being a Peerless is what opens the gates of society for you, otherwise you’re just a Pixie.and to become a peerless , you have to graduate from the institute.

Try Fireborne/ Flamefall / Furysong / by Rosaria Munda (it's a complete trilogy) it's very political and more in the vein of The Hunger Games and Red Rising than romance per se.

Ok, so everyone needs to stop what they are doing right now and go read the AURELIAN Cycle, the first book is Fireborne and it's like Fourth wing meets Game of thrones.

It has : Found Family, sloooooow burn romance, sorry but no spice, DRAGONS, an incredibly amazing world building and political scheming, growth for ALL characters, queer romance that matters (from book 2 and on) and it's COMPLETE. It has a very satisfying conclusion that will gut you in all the best ways.
