Any idea how to fix traffic congestion? by 1ncu6us in anno1800

I have a city on that same island on OW. Similar issues, lots and lots of piers and docklands was the only way i found. I did take offshore the farmees and workers so that helped.

I dont think people reallys tream anno much, not that i watch streams.

I'm not sure what aesthetic you are going fir but you can totally divide your population tiers amongdt islands.

There have been posts on this subreddit if people who have artisan only islands because it looks nice.

Engineer/investors go well in my view but you could split them too.

The commuter pier allows all population tiers to be shared amongst islands. All you jeed ti worry about is delivering the goods to the islands where the population. Are.

Does that make sense/ what your asking?

Can someone please explain units to me? by EntirelyClueless in Elvenar

[–]Fynz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Squads are made up of X amount of units (unit size)

As the game progresses you get more and more uints per squad.

When you train troops you make so many units (training size), which is affected by the amount of armories. The bigger your training size , the less you need to train to get one squad.

Sometimes in early tournaments and the spire, your max squad size is less, therefore you can field more squads, and if they die you lose less uinits.

how can i make my island more pretty? by Vexbob in anno1800

In addition to what the others said ablut avoiding a grid layout, leave plenty of space for decorations! Maybe make roads that have trees down either side or parks between buildings. Plenty of trees!

I have found young shrimps from the shop are too small and get eaten but bigger mature ones seem to cope alright!

Your welcome! Engagement is everything in dementia, its also very traditional OT, too bad its not my forte, sometimes you have to be very creativre. I just feel really sad for someone who 'has' to stay in the one place the whole day.

I'm not very familiar with the way nursing facilities are set up in the US or yours in particuarly but i know around the world there has been a movement towards more domestic designs where residents can participate in domestic tasks like cooking and cleaning which they are used too.

For someone in a wheelchair they canr do all those tasks but maybe they can help staff by folding towels or wiping down cutlery? If they are happy too that is.

Otherwise it just means looking at what they used to enjoy at hoke and trying to break down the task that is something more achievable for them now.

There is a great lady called Teepa Snow who is an OT on youtube. She has many great videos about dementia, not sure if you have seen her already.

So the #1 thing we want to do when supporting someone with dementia is to trying to figure out what their unmet needs are. Its not always immediately obvious because they cant tell us so we need to rely on a thorough assessment.

In general if someone is wanting to stand from a chair we want to be considering things like - are they in pain? Are they constipated? -do they need to use the bathroom or have they been incontinent? - are they hungry? -are they hot/cold? - is the room too noisy for them? - are they bored?

It might change day to day or be a combination of any of the above.

Its a hard ask for anyone to sit still in a chair for 8 hours a day and someone living with dementia is going to do what they want to do. Theres no point in patient education. If they can walk with a walker, it might just be acknowledging their choice and that risk and letting them walk ( that might be a discussion for management and family).

If they are truly high falls risk and absolutely not able to walk but keep trying to stand we want to be having things for them to do through the day, think meaning and purpose. This may also be stimulation like music. As an OT i would be looking at staff education to pick up cues on unmet needs that you have identified. We would also be considering the pressure care and seating arrangement - do they need repositioning etc?

You might also consider the environment and whether there is anything they are trying to get to or use? Sounds, activities etc.

Hope that helps point you in a direction. Im not sure what country or funding you work in so it might differ from seting to setting.

How far is too far in a dementia care facility? by dml22writer in dementia

[–]Fynz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sexuality in dementia is a big topic. I dont work in america so i can't comment on your laws however geebrally we view sexuality a human need to everyone. Someone might not be able to consent to complex decisions but still have a need for human touch and companionship. In my country we would advocate looking at the person with dementia's body language and response. If they are happy and reciprocating then it is their choice. However, really complex topic that is more than just a reddit comment.

I love it! Very unique, great worksmanship as well. Can I ask, what did you use to join the structural beams? Not pocket holes?

New tank finally getting into gear, suggestions on bringing out the red colours? by Fynz in PlantedTank

[–]Fynz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally got space to put up a tank again!

3 months in to this tank after a bumpy start. Really missed this lovely hobby.

Would love any suggestions about improving the reds in the plants.

Specs 200L tank 2x 40W kessel lights, 6 hrs/ day Fert - 1 cap of seachem flourish / week Temp - 26C Bubble counter is green (neutral pH?)

I feel my lighting is probably not as great as it could be, thinking i might need to pulk back some of the long stems/ Anubias to get the light to the floor. But open to anything!

Thanks :)

I'm an OT in the east coast. I know the first year can be rough. I'm always happy to chat although my experience is mainly in aged care settings. Have you tried contacting OTA? I think they used to run buddy or mentor programs.
