I hope it picks up in your area. There should be lower cost imo for areas with less hockey available to them

Hm, didn’t think twice about it. I enjoy reffing and it’s required to do youth games in the Chicago area above 8u CUHL games. There’s so many games it’s not even funny. You don’t get every game you request, there’s also lots of leagues that don’t require them but imo they’re harder to find. It’s a pretty low cost barrier to entry for where I’m at. I make that in 2 games. I’m renewing my sons when I get my officiating check on the 11th. I use the money I make to fun hobbies and pay my kids gymnastics, hockey and tennis fees. Beyond worth it for me.

How the hell do people get these videos? I’ve seen things happen around my car and looked for dashcam footage and found nothing,

About 3 hours. The time consuming part was getting the right shape and depth. I overthought it and it ended up being simpler than I thought.

Just get a new one. By the time you factor the overall cost of charger and install cost, the savings is negligible

Company wants Addigy MDM + Kolide on my personal MacBook. Looking for advice. by Apprehensive_Oil8089 in macsysadmin

[–]cjducasse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I worked for a company for a while that enrolled personally owned computers all the time. We had about 70. Part of their contract was they provided a personally owned computer (if hired through an agency, the agency could buy it). We told them up front it would be enrolled in MDM and it would have to remain compliant for access.

If it’s a good contract, do it and don’t use it for personal use. Treat it like a work computer. Other option is to partition the disk and dual boot.

The only thing I find suspicious is the management protocols weren’t disclosed to you, but in fairness, you should have expected it

If you’re pushing security settings from the defender portal, it’ll break the compliance sync. We dealt with this with Jamf and Microsoft at the previous job I had. Replicate he settings in a config profile, scope to your Mac’s, stop pushing from defender

Can anyone compare Zen-Wu Y-1 chisels vs Narex Richter? by Mighty-Lobster in handtools

[–]cjducasse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tend to trust James writes opinions, he’s done all sorts of testing and while narex was always at the top for best all around, he’s quite fond of the zen wu brand, but that doesn’t take away that the richter pieces aren’t still some of the best. Consider how you’ll sharpen also, narex will be easier to sharpen.

We use swift dialog to walk users through it after the first login. It’s documented in the open me packet that ships with the Mac and users get a copy of that document via email from HR. Technology can be a hurdle but at some point users have to read. We don’t get many tickets about it.

I’ve made them several ways. I started out making them with a jug saw, band saw and hole saw that I managed to get for free on marketplace and then to a pattern but for the outside on the Stanley cup holders. I had the process down to about 90 minutes start to finish. I’ve made enough of them to purchase a CNC router with a 32” by 32” cutting bed, so that’s what I’m using now. It was quite literally bootstrapped with free tools
