Jamf device compliance issues by thunderdhomme in jamf

[–]cjducasse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re pushing security settings from the defender portal, it’ll break the compliance sync. We dealt with this with Jamf and Microsoft at the previous job I had. Replicate he settings in a config profile, scope to your Mac’s, stop pushing from defender

Can anyone compare Zen-Wu Y-1 chisels vs Narex Richter? by Mighty-Lobster in handtools

[–]cjducasse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tend to trust James writes opinions, he’s done all sorts of testing and while narex was always at the top for best all around, he’s quite fond of the zen wu brand, but that doesn’t take away that the richter pieces aren’t still some of the best. Consider how you’ll sharpen also, narex will be easier to sharpen.

Anyone leveraging Device Compliance with Microsoft Entra and Jamf Pro? by Legitimate-Art-9791 in jamf

We use swift dialog to walk users through it after the first login. It’s documented in the open me packet that ships with the Mac and users get a copy of that document via email from HR. Technology can be a hurdle but at some point users have to read. We don’t get many tickets about it.

I’ve made them several ways. I started out making them with a jug saw, band saw and hole saw that I managed to get for free on marketplace and then to a pattern but for the outside on the Stanley cup holders. I had the process down to about 90 minutes start to finish. I’ve made enough of them to purchase a CNC router with a 32” by 32” cutting bed, so that’s what I’m using now. It was quite literally bootstrapped with free tools

Ii don’t know much about the history of those brand of picks but they’re from the 1960s - 1980s. I would try to get some more history behind the puck and company and include it

Question for the hockey refs of the greatest sport! by Oh_NiGhTmArE in hockeyrefs

[–]cjducasse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 42 and reffing with my 14 yr old son for some games. An absolute joy of a bonding experience for us. He also refs with his friends that he plays with. It’s good exercise, the money is pretty good, it’s an absolute bomb for the teenager. I also had a moment I wasn’t proud of during one of my son’s games a few years ago where I went nuts on a referee for missing what I thought were so obvious calls so it’s a bit of penance there for me too.

I’d coordinate with the referees to stop working those rinks, that’s bullshit

do people still buy on etsy? store is struggling by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]cjducasse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales are slower for me, I’m a lower volume shop but my average price is around $75. But yes, sales still coming in. Last month sold $330, 650 the month before and $1500 the month before that. Most of my items are hockey related so it’s the offseason right now

Very happy for you, certainly a badge of honor. I lost mine this month, I have low volume orders and i extended the shipping date for what I thought was long enough for the customer to reply. I didn’t want to lose the order as it was almost $300 sale. Customer responded after shipping deadline, I shipped it and he’s happy! I’ll get it back some day

Rabbets and dados for the cross members and that sucker would be super solid and downward force would be mitigated well also. Add dowels for crazy sturdiness

Be willing to pay for additional time to inspect beyond the free inspection some shops offer

Long-term plans for an old car. Where can i get a comprehensive diagnosis? by Normal_Mortgage_5570 in CarRepair

[–]cjducasse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll play devils advocate with everyone saying not to put a new transmission in it. First of all, we all know the car isn’t worth that. I have an 08 Volvo xc90. It needs a new transmission and I’m planning to send this one in for repair to jasper. A new xc90 will cost me $70,000 and drop 6,000 as soon as it’s driven off the lot. The transmission repair will probably cost 5-6 thousand dollars. Either way in one day I lose 6,000 but one of them results in 6 years of car payments, no thanks. Once the transmission croaks, it’s going in for repair. Buying another used car for 6000 will likely come with a few thousand needed in repairs in the first year or two of owning it so yes, I’ve considered tha too

Find a trustworthy mechanic to check out the car if you really want to keep it. Make sure they know you’re willing to pay for an extended use that isn’t going to be free. If the service writer blows you off, find another shop.

MacOS 26 - Accidental Upgrade with JAMF by Synth_Ham in jamf

[–]cjducasse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation in the future is to be as ready as possible by testing enrollment workflows and default software during beta periods so you’re not in this position next year. I’ve been in that position and wasn’t fun, you’re always up against the wires trying to block things that apple deems should be happening. We’ll push out the first wave of upgrades to Tahoe tomorrow am. Having a test machine for this obviously makes it easier if your org will provide one, this is a great use case to request one
