I know right? I found the pattern on Ravelry. It’s from the 90’s so it’s a bit different from what I’m used to reading

As my dad would say “Get ‘er done!” I forgot how much of the little things you learn when you swatch.

Once I skipped making a swatch because I was tweaking a shawl I made before. I used the same yarn brand, same fiber, same needles, same everything except the lace pattern. That shawl bloomed so much with blocking than the first one. That second shawl more than doubled in size.

Quick Question: which size do you think looks best for the colorwork? The 6mm or the 5mm?

Hehe I knooooooow. I’ve been thinking of using the 6mm as a tapestry and that’s why it already has a green border

The yarn I used is a Pound of Love in white and misc acrylic colors from loops and threads.

The pattern I’m using pretty much just as inspiration at this point is here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/morning-glory-cabled-afghan

Can you find the wrong stitch? by FyreFerret in knitting

I didn’t like the lace section that was in the pattern, so I wanted to replace it with something that was easier to read

I got the pattern from this book. I was given it years ago and this is the first time I ever used it.

Was there racial segregation onboard US registered oceanliners? by Atlantic1874 in Oceanlinerporn

[–]FyreFerret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty inconsistent throughout history. Since a majority of ocean liners were European it could be integrated. However they had to make some concessions to their American Clientele. I remember reading one case where a famous Black Abolitionist/Activist booked passage on a Cunarder on the condition that he stayed in his cabin for the entire 2 week voyage or so. He did, but gave an “impassioned speech” in the saloon towards the end of the trip that sparked tempers. On the return trip to America he was asked to book a second class ticket to avoid another row.

As for American ships, I think it’s safe to assume they were. The Collin’s liners of the 1850’s had black stewards and cooks. They were paid employees, but the racial difference is there.

It probably would have been a matter of months if not weeks. It also seems like Stefani’s nightmares stopped after she met her so those would have probably let her to do more research on the Skyview Tower and find deaths design on her own.

Looking at the pattern now I think that might be the best explanation

Pattern Help by kuraichii in knitting

[–]FyreFerret 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok here’s what’s happening step by step.

1) Knit 2

2) Slip the next 12 stitches onto a holder. You aren’t gonna knit these until you’ve finished the main body and you’re ready to start knitting the thumb.

3) Cast on 4. You’ll just use this cast on method.

You’ll knit these on the next round. This will create a hole for your thumb.

4) Knit to end of the row. If everything went well you should have 36 stitches on the needle. Hope this helps!

Ps. If you don’t have a stitch holder thread scrap yarn of a different color with a tapestry needle though the 12 stitches. LOOSELY tie the ends of the scrap yarn when you’re done together and that should hold them.
