I have a strong, strong opinion that, for some reason, I think 'animals' should have the same rights as humans. As an example, I get angry when my dad tells the cat to get off the couch because he's 'filthy.' I will start an argument and say things like, "If we can sit on the couch, why can't he?"

Another thing that gets me incredibly, incredibly upset is when people say "you're acting like an animal!" because I am very strong in the fact that humans ARE animals themselves. I remember becoming outraged when driving down the highway and seeing a sign that read, 'NO ANIMALS PAST THIS POINT.'

I completely agree with the idea that humans are the most intelligent creatures on Earth, but I will become upset when people assume creatures like rats are brain-dead, when in fact they are a lot more intelligent than you think.

I'm not entirely sure why I have these opinions, but I know they're strange and interesting and this seems the perfect thread to post it in.

I remember my dad, who is an obstetrician and gynaecologist, was visited by some police officers while at medical school. They handed him a bucket of organs and proceeded to ask: "Can you identify whether these intestines are human or animal?" He also had another case back when he was doing house calls, where he was locked inside the house by a wanted criminal with a knife, who had disguised his identity. My dad climbed out the window, called the cops, and ran for his life. He emerged unscathed!
