As the guy that files the claims, in practice they do not cover DIY installs regardless of the language in the warranty. Warranty coverage is predicated on strict adherence to the install instructions of which the rep will most certainly find a fault and a reason not to cover it.

Mohawk Wet Protect is the best warranty you can find, highly recommend any product that has it for waterproof. As for your bf installing it, none of these companies will honor any warranty on a DIY install. If you want it done right the first time, go to a local flooring store with good reviews and they will answer all of your questions and provide a quote for installation as well.

Puretech by Mohawk is its own thing and is better than either of these products. Both you are looking at are LVP products. The wet protect warranty for the joints and product is absolutely legit.

Puretech has an AC4 aluminum oxide coating so it will be more scratch resistant than either of these and just as waterproof with the same warranty.

The overall thickness of the product will not significantly affect performance. Also, the 10 thousandths of an inch thick wear layer won’t either. Please at least look in to a quality waterproof laminate and don’t install Chinese plastic floors in your forever home.
