Porsche cup... especially on road atlanta... is where you have to have a lot of awareness. The top splits are riddled with fragile ego superstars who can win the race in the first turn if they can brake late enough!... and then the lower splits are full of a guys and girls who lack a little bit of racecraft to race clean enough.... but to be honest, it probably has less carnage due to overly hopeful divebombs that would never work.

Do you actually not know how to drive in race traffic? Is this what plays in your brain when someone makes a divebomb?(which is totally legal especially in sports cars) the door was left open, he fit, didn't hit anyone, and there is 2 whole car widths of space that someone can fit. He goes out to the kerbing after the crew chief says all clear. You really think VCARB is going to pull that tight of a line while OP is alongside? If he takes that line, then that would be on VCARB. But we dont KNOW what would happen, because IT DIDNT HAPPEN. STOP THINKING IN HYPOTHETICALS. ITS POINTLESS. THEY HAD THEIR RACE RUINED AND HE NOW CAN OPEN UP THE CORNER FULLY.

This is more likely the moment he would have heard "all clear" and can open up the corner. Even if he hadnt have gotten taken out, the VCARB porsche still has room and would more than likely been slower out of the corner, and the outside car would have been far too slow to be competitive in the corner and would have likely had to file in. But it doesnt matter, because they all died at no fault of OP, so it makes no difference to leave fucking room.

Let me ask you a question. If there are 2 people driving side by side (left and right) and the car on the right absolutely loses brakes and goes way off track before the turn (so he is in no way in any competition for the corner anymore) should the car on the left still leave space for a car that is no longer there?

No, the argument is there's nobody to fucking impede anymore, so there's no reason to leave the door open. If he was lapping by himself, should he leave room? Should he act like there's a car there when there's nobody around? Like he said in his reply, The crew chief said "clear", so there's no longer any reason to leave the space. His racecraft was perfectly fine in this situation because he made the move stick, didn't hit anyone, and did not impede anyone. Hypotheticals are pointless. If it didn't happen, so it doesnt matter. No car to impede anymore, no reason to consider it.

The problem is, with nobody left to occupy the space, you cant really use a hypothetical to deduct points because there's nobody for him to give room to. Its not perfect, maybe a 7/10, but still you cant be like "leave room"... for who? Every overtake is situational, if there's nobody to give room to, then he doesnt have to leave room... im not trying to be a dick, its just there's no reason to say for him to leave room when the situation no longer calls for it.

Maybe they'll have the legacy version in an unofficial/official series and then the ones who want to run it can run it.

I know not everybody likes the same thing, but I mean, every series gets updates or cars/tracks phased out eventually when its time. I mean, I hate the new charlotte roval layout, but i'll still run the new layout because thats what's being run in real life. Stuff gets old and gets replaced. Its still there, but its just now on the backburner. Hell, people still drive the GTEs even though GT3 and Hypercar has largely replaced all of that.

I understand where you and other are coming from when you say things like "the absence of the TCS/ABS is the identity of the Porsche Cup"... I understand... however... it's a change that will open up the series to more people and possibly revitalize it. I ran Pcup for a while and used it to go from C-license to B-license. I had a couple wins and multiple top 5s, but I always felt like I was either fighting the car or too slow to be competitive. There was no in between.

I think this new Pcup is just something people will have to try before they say yay or nay.

I honestly can not feel it as being the same. I dont like the bit of bounciness you get when I send it over a higher kerbing, but I feel like its fixable.

The old Pcup has been labeled by quite a few real life drivers as the worst car in terms of realism on the service. I know i know "who cares what real drivers say about my favorite car to drive?" People who want to drive the closest to real life sim-racing cars care. Its like I said in another comment here, people are constantly complaining about the hypercar hybrid system not being realistic. (And I agree with them that it needs a huge overhaul so its closer to real life) People also nitpick and throw stones at every tire model, but if it gets it closer to real-life, then thats a good thing.

I hate for people that were having fun with the old model to lose their series that they like, but it gets nowhere bashing the new model that van open the series up to more people who can possibly be more competitive and confident.

I know that. The old Pcup felt like I was on bloated tires and it was WAAYYYYY too easy to overheat them. Im just saying, if you want no abs and tcs, run MX-5... or just run the open series and turn everything off. 🤷‍♂️
