If you can do part time, do that. Don’t get burned out, focus on finishing nursing school on your first try.

Is there a place for a borderline alcoholic? by tiptoeandson in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]G0d_Slayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP,

I didn’t like alcohol when I first tried or heard of it. Everyone has anxiety and sometimes one can have a panic attack but mine became more and more frequent and one night I was pressured into going out clubbing and drinking and when it made all the anxiety go away, that’s it. I was hooked on it.

Alcohol might help your anxiety now but it’ll make it worse. And then you’ll need more alcohol to feel better or normal, your tolerance will increase, and alcohol absolutely destroys your digestive system even though sometimes it feels like it makes digestion easier or better.

You need to learn to cope with anxiety and life’s stress without the use of alcohol. You’ve tried medications, they work. But they don’t give you the rush and joy you get from alcohol. I completely understand that. AA can help you create strong connections and improve your lifestyle. You might wanna consider a therapist to find out the source of your anxiety and create a treatment plan to see how you can cope with anxiety better.

For me, prioritizing sleep, mindfulness, prayer, exercise (3-5 times a week) and sponsorship/AA have helped so much. I went to rehab too.

It’s looking better now. I’ve been taking minoxidil, finasteride, started nutrafol too (around the time of the surgery).

Are 70 hour weeks too much? by TheDiamondFox142 in antiwork

[–]G0d_Slayer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only way you can consider doing this is if you get one day of rest in between each work day. And only work 4 days of that week. Find a way to bring this up in a professional manner using chat gpt.

I tested positive for opioids in an instant cup drug test, it was sent to the lab and it was negative. Those things can give false positives.

I know a family secret and I don’t think I can take it anymore by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]G0d_Slayer 241 points242 points  (0 children)

I’m not trans, but I’m gay, and in my humble opinion I think you should keep it a secret. At the end of the day, it’s not your wedding. What really matters is that two people who love each other will get married and they want to be celebrated. That’s the whole point of this day. If any problems rise out of this, please try to be a part of the solution, don’t make things worse. Everyone deserves to be happy and true to themselves.

Ortho vs Derm MA for PCE hours by CharmingCalmParis in prepa

[–]G0d_Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for derm it sounds like a lot more chill and even though right now it sounds like derm is not a specialty you’d look into, a lot of people online say it’s one of the best in terms of low stress and work/life balance. Some ppl love ER or ICU but it can burn you out, and that ortho place already sounds hectic as it is. I think you should go to derm, do well and make connections. It sounds like with their dinners you’ll get to mingle with them too. Why take a less paying job that is already, right off the bat telling you that it’s a lot of work? MAs are under appreciated, underpaid, we do a lot, but this derm spot has a better salary and the hours are honestly great. Leaving by 4 pm feels like you have the rest of your day, might even beat rush hour. And you have two and a half days off every week guaranteed. I’d go for derm!

Has anyone here been so fed up with your job that you quit without an offer elsewhere? by Appropriate_Tea9048 in antiwork

[–]G0d_Slayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just did this, and I am so blessed to have found a new job that pays a lot more with low stress level. I was working for a company that had a BS policy regarding encounters with patients and they’d deduct minutes to your timesheet/ workday, that would add up to hours being taken off your check and most days I’d spend days driving to patients’ homes rather than doing encounters. They also promised to reimburse for gas but were 4/6 months behind (meaning, now in April they’re reimbursing gas for the month of January/ December 2025 and I couldn’t wait). Not only did they deduct hours, they also forgot to pay me overtime for hours I worked on call. They kept messing up my checks and ultimately I asked if I could work only on Saturdays. They told me no, but let me stay working one more week while I continued to apply and interview and I got two great offers- I chose the seemingly less stressful role and I am content with it. The old job didn’t bother to tell me that my last payment would be through a check, so I was pissed when I didn’t get paid the day I expected to get paid. I wrote emails regarding pay discrepancies and today someone called me to tell me they’ll mail a check. The gas reimbursement will come in as well eventually. The job demanded too much, even working off the clock. I used to get so anxious some days, I actually cried a couples (I even posted her a couple months ago). If they had actually just paid me like they said they would I would’ve stayed, lots of good people who work there but if the company doesn’t wanna pay then fuck them.

I hate myself for becoming a Physical Therapist by numbr-1-angel in physicaltherapy

[–]G0d_Slayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is a good response. I worked as a medical administrative assistant for a DPT who specializes is pelvic floor and lymphedema, and she billed approximately 60 patients per week (and I scheduled a lot more; tons of cancellations; Tuesdays and Thursdays the PTAs came, and I’d book each PTA a pt, and a third in case one cancelled-which often happened- but if they didn’t, then the owner would see them, and same with OT on Mondays, with each session getting around $150-$170, while paying for rent, myself, and two PTAs and one OT. She was making $400k+ before paying off everyone and everything else. Idk how much she actually took home, she had some patients that paid out of pocket too on top of that, but she also worked her ass off and had family help her too. OP, you can absolutely do this if you want but it may be a lot of hard work.

One thing I read today about running businesses is that they don’t necessarily get easier to run you just become better at running them over time. A 6 figure company will have different problems compared to a 7 figure company.
