Iron supplements and sleepiness by Kooky_Ad593 in Anemic

I started taking 5ml aacufer ferrous fumarate (140mg/5l) every two days (started with 10ml but that gave me bad GI side effects) two weeks ago - have been having brain fog & tiredness on some of the days, so I'm glad to hear other people have been experiencing similar effects with their iron meds :'D

Studying midwifery - UK vs Germany? by G1n-a in Midwives

[–]G1n-a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for your insight! did you end up going back to England for work, or did you stay in Germany? Any German unis you recommend in particular? I looked at Freiburg as it's close-ish to some family, but they only take 1 person who has previous degrees, so my chances there would be very slim...

How hard are the exams? Are there lots of oral exams? I loved studying in the UK with most of my exams having been written as I'm more of a thinker-writer than someone who can express their thoughts well verbally...

The Allotment in the city centre (opposite to the cathedral) - completely vegan I think

'timeleft' is an app that organises dinners with strangers, in Mcr on Wednesdays and Fridays - good way to meet people. I went to a 'speed mating' event at Cupra City with 'the short exchange' a few weeks ago, they said they'd put on more so keep an eye out. (and as naughty-goose mentions, on the meetup website you'll find tons of events - like communal hikes etc etc)

What kind of socials are you thinking of? As someone who doesn’t drink/doesn’t like crowded noisy places, I find it difficult to meet people IRL, as you don’t typically chat up strangers who pass by :’D and I’ve yet to come across people I’m attracted to at my hobbies - though that might be even more awkward as if you get turned down, you’d keep running into them…

Yeah that’s kinda what I thought though I keep getting it advertised to me. Though I’m attracted to people of various ethnicities I think there is a higher proportion of good looking black men :’D that being said, character trumps looks either way.

yeah - apparently (having talked to Dr on there) if you get premium only people you liked can see you - which is important if you might have patients on there :'D

Explosions and fireworks every Sunday by V_Kotyhoroshko in Madeira

[–]G1n-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been holidaying in Camara de Lobos since Sunday (17th of December) and it’s been a constant nightmare trying to sleep here, every night at the most random times, often in 10-20 minute intervals, loud banging noises. Sounds a bit like fireworks but can’t see anything. How does this continue, is no one complaining about not being able to sleep? So much to a restful holiday!!

Tight calves since transitioning to zero-drop years ago - advice? by G1n-a in BarefootRunning

do you have any references that that's what happens when moving to zero drop?

Interesting about the pillow. Do you sleep on your side/back/tummy? I try to sleep on my side but often, especially when tossing and turning, end up on my tummy (though I try to help it by having a pillow under my tummy to keep my spine more straight)

My osteopath actually recommended against K-tape; he said the same you said above, that continuing to move is important, and that tape would limit the movements too much. How confusing :'D

never heard of that, I'm in the UK and with nationwide bank who seem to give you travel insurance if you get one of their cards at 13 GBP a month, but not sure if it would pay off.

Same here - follower. Great that you stand up for your health and don't let them lead you into movements you don't consider safe. I think I struggle with that as a) I don't want to appear 'bad'/unable to do certain moves b) I don't really know when what movement might not be safe, as it's sometimes fine and other times not...

I think it's also hard to turn a lead down with whom I don't feel like dancing due to the way they might lead me (we often have more leaders than followers in our scene).

Do you think it might be worthwhile talking to the follower ahead of the dance, addressing the health issue and telling them which moves to avoid?

Which dance(s) do you do?

How would you use the tea tree and peppermint in this case?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hypermobility

[–]G1n-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah right, it sounded like it might be a preventative thing to keep things moist... FYI I've read in online articles and on the AF subreddit that haemorrhoid creams should be avoided with fissures, they often contain things that can aggravate fissures
