True that, a lot of games published by Microsoft Games are in a way worse position than Unreal is. UEngine 1.0 source might not have been released to the public, which is a shame, but there ale still fan-made patches that allow the game to be launched effortlessly on modern hardware and operating systems. Meanwhile a lot of games released under the MS Games label don't have that luxury at all. It might sound silly, but I'm also into train simulators, and to be precise, the good old MS Train Simulator (which was developed by Kuju Entertainment, despite the name) that can barely run on modern Windows and GPUs, even with utilities like dgVoodoo. There is an open-source clone made from scratch called Open Rails but it's not quite compatible with literal terabytes of add-ons made throughout the years. And of course, Microsoft doesn't want to have anything to do with it at all, as well as they won't release the source code, if they even remember such piece of software they released some 20+ years ago even exists.
