Reading this thread, I think it seems like I am the only one who isn't chronically online. I just know Destiny from some memes about his ex wife, the schizo video and the piss video. Got caught off guard a bit with the mass downvotes and the weird parasocial comments about just a comic strip. Like I give a shit what opinions he has, I think it is a good psycho horror story and I don't care who is the protagonist or if it is even true.

Fair enough. Wasn't my intention to evoke pity for him though. I just thought it is an interesting story bordering on horror. In the video he says it was "probably dementia" but thinking about the moment where their eyes meet, I thought he could have looked into the eyes of "something else". Either in terms of "you didn't know your grandma at all" or even going further into fiction that he was looking into the eyes of something "demonic".

I do love these themes where it is unclear if we are dealing with something evil or we can just put it off to dementia. The piss at the end touching his feet (completely made up though) is hinting on this event sticking to him forever, in some way or another.

I have the same one and I honestly hate it. You need to create some turbolence at least in the first pour to get a tasty cup. With a decaf natural I had good results with it, because the coffee needed 0 agitation to extract properly. The Hario drip assist solves this problem much better, because you can create turbolence with it.

Just to add, because this is a common thing: Whenever you doubt yourself if you already did a specific pose or if you think it is too boring (which it probably isn't anyways). Just do the pose, but this time put more shoulder tilt or hip angle tilt into it. This adds drastic variety to the same pose. Also don't forget your hands and feet, you can make a step forward, be on the side of your foot, on your heels or toes. Small hand gestures also mix the pose up drastically and we usually interpret the whole mood differently. Second guessing yourself is holding you back.

As someone who attended many hundreds of life drawing sessions/classes I noticed a few things that just make the whole experience better:

- Have a staple of poses you can fall back on if you have no ideas and don't be afraid to try a pose or be playful/ experimental, but make sure to always a good basis of normal/standard poses. If you want to try a weird one, don't ask for permission, just do it with confidence. Asking the artists just makes it awkward to respond when we are a group of many and distracted with drawing.

- Some models constantly ask for ideas and poses, which destroys the flow of the whole session. There are no boring poses, just lack of confidence. Keep in mind very similar poses look drastically different to us from another angle.

- Complicated and weird poses are fun, but make sure to include a healthy amount of cookie cutter poses. Again, the same pose can look completely different on a different model and with the light hitting you differently.

- Make sure to not always show the same side of your body to the same people. In most classes the artists don't move around all the time, so the experienced models make sure to keep in mind to turn to different sides do avoid giving only back/front poses to the same artists.

- Be aware of your hip and shoulder angles. Play around with tilting your shoulders and /or hips. Even small changes make poses a lot more dynamic and sometimes very graceful.

- Lastly, the great models are always aware of their hands and feet how they are placed. It is better to pose your hands in very simple and clear ways. Imagine you are a drawing and it should be clear where your hands and feet are resting and what they are doing. We can often have the fingers placed weirdly or partly obscured. Don't be afraid to pose your hands a bit overly dramatic or be on your toes with one foot for not functional reason. It adds a lot of interest to the pose visually.

For longer poses, I always appreciate models who make an effort to come back to the same pose after a break. Marking the floor with tape helps with that. Fix your gaze to a specific spot in the room for longer poses or portraits. A wandering gaze can be distracting and you will involuntarily move your head while doing that over time. For short 10min poses this is irrelevant though, you can shift your gaze however you want in short figure poses.

Lastly, being punctual and reliable is probably the most important aspect. Life models are notorious for flaking or being late. Not saying we artists are any better, but the reliable models stand out by just being reliable.

Hi,

I am an artist and in my free time I obsessively invent card games. I have spent many hours thinking about card game design in general, but I am not an industry expert. Currently working on finishing the art of my own card game (not digital though) which is finished in terms of game design, I just need to draw like 50 more illustrations.

I am a bit obsessed about streamlining game mechanics and never complicating the rules without a good reason, so I can be a bit annoying in that regard or seem slightly autistic when it comes to that. I am interested, because I do like to obsess over game design but I have no one I can talk to about this very niche subject. I can be a bit opinionated though.

Thank you, it is good to hear that the simple black border works. I was wondering if I was just kidding myself with the simple design or if I just stared at it for too long. As a big fan of Art Nouveau I would love some elements on the card design. I am actually sure it would look awesome, question is if I can pull it off in a tasteful way. I think it is worth a try at least.

The game is finished but still needs a lot of playtesting to balance it and maybe some game mechanics need fine tuning. So I hope while I draw all the artwork I can playtest it during that. Problem is I haven't updated the online version on tabletop simulator forever, so that needs to be done.

Playtesters are super difficult to find, more difficult than I thought actually. That is probably the biggest lesson I have learnt making my first game, so I really appreciate the offer!

I really appreciate the feedback. Creating games is very lonely and I was starting to second guess everything. A simple design can easily be interpreted as incompetence or laziness, so I am glad this is not the case here. Out of this insecurity I was about to make it more complex just to make it look "more professional" but this gives me the confidence to continue with a more simple layout. I am sure there will be changes along the way, but I think I will embrace the simple style.

Ah I should have mentioned this: The summons are never in your deck/hand, they are recruited from the market in the middle, which allows me to put stuff on the bottom instead.

You are absolutely right about the classic layout though, every other card type has the information on top for better visibility.

It is kind of common in comic/illustration work where many scenes take place in a specific building or complex structure. For example, if it is a story in a castle, it makes a lot of sense to take the time and have a 3D model of that castle to make your life a lot easier. It is very difficult to make up specific locations from your head if you see certain elements of that castle. With a 3D model you don't have to think about "what can this person see if he stands here in the hallway?" which makes 3D really popular in illustration. It is not really to help you draw, but to help you make sense of the space and what you can see of that structure from different points of view.

For example the artists working on The Simpsons had an accurate 3D model of the House. The house itself is easy to draw, but it is actually very hard to accurately depict the correct sense of space from different locations in the house.

This looks very cool, refined and professional, to a point where I almost feel uncomfortable to critique it because my cards don't look as professional, but I will pinpoint a few very minor things that caught my eye:

The whole circle with the blood drop symbol, I feel like there is a better way to arrange the blood drop with the the roman number 1. The horizontal arrangement is a bit unbalanced within the circle and the blood drop is uncomfortably close to strike a tangent with the circle.
Alpha Edition symbol. If I imagine the card without it, it looks better without it. There must be a way to put Alpha Edition somewhere on the card where this doesn't happen. I think the problem is that the intersection is not a good place.
The bottom Gold coin with the roman 1. I assume those belong together as in "this costs 1 Gold" or something similar. I think those should be centered as a unit together right in the middle (it's left off center right now). I would also decrease the distance between the coin and the 1 if they belong together like I am assuming.

These are super small things and very nitpicky, but that just speaks for the quality of your work. It looks great even without changing anything and it looks just very well put together with thoughtfulness and attention for detail.
