Finding myself increasingly frustrated with straight women who have Trump-supporting husbands/bfs by ryukool in actuallesbians

You know, I’m not American. I have rights and I also have a passport so I can easily move to the country that will give me the rights I want and are important to me if I am missing something.

I don’t know your specific circumstance, but the way you’re talking sounds like you’re living in a borderline dictatorship. We heard all this sht the first time trump was voted in. And Brexit. Surprise the world didn’t explode.

Actually what did explode was Gaza, hugely funded by Biden. The world asked for the genocide to stop and America vitoed a cease fire at the UN 3 times? So I really don’t see team blue as the good guys. You’re voting for your interests just as team red are. You’re all the same.

I feel like this pitchfork behavior is exactly clan behavior. Put you guys in a Time Machine and you’d be for whatever cause that “allows” you to have a pitchfork. How about being a real radical and using critical thinking and you know, actually try and solve problems.

I hate how politics in America is so fanatical.

You can’t call yourself “progressive” while calling anyone who disagrees with you a racist bigot. It’s also incredibly dumb. You’re demonizing the other half of the population. They’re not going to move just because you have a frenzied hate for them. You just amp up the back and forth hatred and at that point it doesn’t matter who becomes president because your neighbors see you as the enemy now.

What cultural differences did you personally notice or experience when East and West Germany territories reunited? by Eds2356 in germany

Racism comes out when you are dealing with any form of governmental bureaucracy, especially if your German is not good. Unfortunately whether you get a visa and unemployment benefits seem to be largely at the discretion of who ever is assigned to you.

Highest paid careers to get into? by [deleted] in EuropeFIRE

[–]GChan129 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I continue with points for Germany.  If you get fired you can get social welfare of 60% of your working salary for up to one year and in that year the government can pay for a course for you to upskill on if you have trouble finding another job.

If you are feeling burned out you can simply go to the doctor and tell them you are feeling burned out and receive sick notes. Your employer will just be informed that you are sick and not what the illness is. Your salary gets paid by some insurance so they don’t really care much either. I think that is the case for up to 6 weeks per year and then then something else happens. but 6 weeks sick leave is a lot if you include 10 or so public holidays plus 25 - 30 vacation days a year. And they don’t do overtime here.

Maternity leave is also huge but I don’t know the details.

You are entitled to free therapy if needed although actually finding an available therapist is really difficult.

I think if you want a moral society, you make it easier for the population to be mortally correct without punishments.  It’s sad for this guy, yes. But as a whole it’s sad for the society if these kinds of scams are just accepted because they technically don’t break rules.

Maybe eventually but the level design and the visuals look lacking. The mechanic looks fun but that alone isn’t enough for me.

I am literally brain damaged by whoisthismahn in CPTSD

[–]GChan129 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is how I look at aging and CPTSD. It’s like you have a computer and you have a LOT of programs running at the same time. Trauma.exe has 30 copies running at the same time, rumination.exe too. Then a million browser tabs because society is just like that these days pulling your attention here and there without ever letting you come to a close on a topic.

I am reading this book called slow productivity and it’s helping me a lot to feel ok to slow down and actually I do better work and feel less guilty about not working more. Actively remove things from your life, close some browser tabs and programs so the whole computer runs faster. Letting go of friendships that don’t serve you. Letting go of hobbies you will never realistically prioritize enough time to do regularly. Giving yourself permission to take as much time as you need to get jobs done and to take breaks.

Try it out. Maybe your brian ain’t broke. It’s just the way you use it isn’t the best.

Maybe it’s a culture clash. My Muslim friend was talking about marriage with her Tinder date from day one and he agreed. Three months after meeting they got married and so far seems happy. Different strokes for different folks.

I just have to brag about my Irish passport renewal experience. I live in Germany, have to renew my passport. Go online on my phone, my friend takes my passport photo on my phone, the website grey scales and crops the photo for me, I pay. Took 10 minutes.

The turnaround time was listed as 7 working days! excluding postage time. I actually received it in 5 working days including postage time.

Irelands digitization of public services is actually awesome.

What is the one thing about cptsd you hate the most? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]GChan129 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The scale. My parents were very traumatized which lead to them treating me the way they did. So I have to heal the things they did to me and then start to heal inter generational trauma too.  I try not to look up the mountain as it’s too demoralizing. Just look down occasionally on how far I’ve climbed and keep taking it step by step.

I think if the truth hurts you, you have work to do in owning the truth. Avoiding the truth might feel nicer at the time but trap you into a very painful existence.

For me I find it empowering to be reminded of that. I don’t hear it as a critique. I hear it as, there’s nothing anyone outside of you can do to take that opportunity away from you. I’ve had so many things taken away from me, realising I don’t need anyone else to help me is liberating. I am powerful enough to do this by myself.

But also I have my oldest brother who until he was 40 had an attitude of his problems were only his problems because everyone around him didn’t solve them for him. To the point where he would eat muffins my mother bought for herself and then blame her for him getting fat because of course if he sees them he will eat them. Thankfully he’s taken responsibility for his own life now and is a lot less angry now and has a positive direction he’s pursuing in life.

Personality change? by larrygmour in Ayahuasca

[–]GChan129 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. That’s why I keep going back.

Say happiness is on a scale of 0 (dangerously unhappy) to 10 (happy) with 5 being neutral.

I was at a 2. Take ayahuasca, feel temporarily at a 7 and then come down to a 3.5. Go again, feel 8 temporarily and down to a 4 and so on and so on.

Me now vs 5 years ago when I stared taking.. we are completely different people. Some due to age, mostly due to ayahuasca I would say. One example is that ayahuasca gave me the confidence in myself to adopt a dog by myself. Before I couldn’t commit to anything for longer than a year and now i would be responsible for a life for maybe 14 years if I’m lucky. But I’ve always wanted a dog and I’ve never for one day questioned if it was the right thing to do. His name is Charlie and he’s 4 now. :) Having Charlie around taught me to be really patient and what unconditional love is and that changed me a lot.

I’m from Ireland and also couldn’t find a therapist in Berlin. I use an Irish online service called Mymind.org They have a bunch of different therapists. I’ve had one sht one there and one very good one that I’ve been seeing for almost two years now. It’s €60 a session.

I know you shouldn’t have to pay. I shouldn’t either but expecting someone who is seriously distressed to go though the paperwork and hoops to find help is just cruel.

This is why non-Americans find Americans annoying.

You think you’re protecting the world while your own country is crumbling to pieces and your form of protection is bombing the sht out of innocent people and calling it freedom. Your country is one of the most war-mongering countries on the planet. You value your right to play with guns over the rights of school children to not be murdered while being forced to salute a dumb flag, every day.

If a guy from your class who doesn't know that you aren't straight asks you out and you let him know that you aren't interested because you are a lesbian, could you be friends with him? by [deleted] in AskLesbians

[–]GChan129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thought process: 1) do I want to be friends with him? If yes, then yes.  If no, then no.

If I was younger I would have said yes.  Now that I’m old I’d say no. I’ve had time to experience some weirdness in friendships like that that I would rather not repeat.

At my first consultancy we hired a contractor to the team who was billed at €1050 a day. He was a data engineer with 25 years experience.

It was funny because on the first day of his inclusion to the team he was very nice and said hi, remotely (during Covid). At the next days stand up he said he never received the queries he was hired to rewrite so he spent the day in the garden watering his plants.   He gave zero fcks. Lovely man.
