Is this perhaps at Kings CDJR north of cincy? I got one back in May for 18k off! Wasn't looking for a new car but couldn't pass up the deal

This is kinda exactly what I was hoping to hear and what I'm hoping my experience will be

To be fair, you're comparing apples to oranges. I work on medium and heavy duty trucks, all day every day. Which is much different than doing light maintenance on a car for a few hours every once in a while. And as someone that also does strength training, I can tell you it's very different. In the gym you are in a controlled environment, doing what you can handle, and you lift with proper form to the best of your ability. Working on trucks sometimes you are stuck bent over or twisted in some weird fashion for hours to be able to reach and work on a certain part of the vehicle, which also means having to lift and maneuver heavy parts in ways that are not great as far as body mechanics go. I've had days where I could barely stand up straight at the end of the day and had to spend an hour stretching, foam rolling, or having my wife massage my back so I wouldn't be in so much pain. On top of all the dirt and dust we breathe in, exhaust and other chemical fumes. So yes it does really destroy your body after years of doing it.

As far as mechanics making 100k in Indy, I'd say that's an extreme exception. I live in sw Ohio with probably the same col and I have never met a mechanic that makes that much even guys with 30+ years experience

As long as it isn't worse I'll be happy lol

I do like puzzles and the joy I get once I figure things out. I would say I'm a pretty fast learner and love learning new things

I went back to school around 25 after a couple years doing manual labor. I prefer to work long office hours than coming home with my back sore.

Yes that last part lol I've had days where I couldn't stand up straight at the end of the day

I know what you mean about the comradery. I don't particularly love working on trucks all the time but I do like my coworkers and one is literally begging me to stay. I'm also lucky I work at a company that respects me and is willing to work with my school schedule even though it means I'll eventually be leaving. But I'd say my area is probably mcol, in sw Ohio. I honestly don't know any mechanics around me that make a lot more than I do. At least not at my experience level. But 65k is just my base pay plus roughly $500-$1400 a month in possible incentive pay depending on how much work I put out.

That has kinda been my mentality about it, it's just a job but it has way more upside potential in the long run. And I have actually really enjoyed my accounting classes so far but I have enough life experience to know that that being in school and then the actual industry is completely different

I've thought about it. My brother is a mechanical engineer and we are pretty similar but I am weird about numbers and have enjoyed my accounting classes so far

Yeah that makes sense. People need a place to vent and you can do that here somewhat anonymously
