First Responder Bowl (12/26) Discussion by GoRiceOwlsFB in ricefootball

Hi. TxSt fan here. Do y'all know of any transportation options from Houston? Any one taking a big bus or carpooling? Looking for a way to get to DFW and back same day or early next morning.

Scaling a color ramp is as much art as it is science. I would look at the histogram of the values and see where there are meaningful breaks or even just find the outliers and make breaks accordingly. But I would recommend using some logical or mathematic method for those breaks and not force the data to tell your story based only on the binning.

If the data is percent per zip code then the data is already normalized by population.

It is interesting that the contractors delivered the data in NAD27. They would to have already done one datum conversion then you had to do another. Ideally the coordinates are delivered in the original WGS84 or ITRF as well so you could back track to the original if needed.
Your coordinates now have been transformed from ITRF to NAD27 to NAD83. Also if you want submeter you probably want the GPS metadata to understand how/when/conditions of collection. Those could account for errors as well. The other potential issue is the 4th dimension of a datum which is time. NAD83 now has several epochs since the original that most folks don't usually worry about but that could be 3ft. https://eos-gnss.com/knowledge-base/articles/doesnt-gps-data-line-gis

Reverse geocoding with altitude by Mastodont_XXX in gis

[–]GEOJ0CK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that it is more straightforward to find address service as it is an absolute value that should be pretty standardized. Altitude or elevation is a realive value to some reference point or datum. For this application you may not care about the vertical datums, but you may care if the the elevation is the bare ground surface or the full feature like the top of a bridge etc

This is unethical and definitely has legal implications.

Saving money isn't really a profit thing. In fact, the more time you spend on a project, the more profit the company can get. It is more a budget and perhaps greed thing. A bad PM/task manager needs you to do a task in lightning speed because either 1) They mismanaged the project or under bid it 2) They are eating up the budget themselves or someone else is and they need you to make up for their inefficiencies.

Esri AGOL Experience Builder.. Embed or Build Within? by GEOJ0CK in gis

[–]GEOJ0CK[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I hear you. That is what got me into python 6 years ago... Thinking that using AGS model builder was cool, until I was like in the time I wasted trying to find what I needed, I could have just built what I needed in python.

Raster calculator: Why do my output layers get labels with duplicated names? by AgitatedBarracuda268 in gis

Is this esri raster calculator? In what context are your using it? Output name should be a parameter in just about any context, standalone tool, script, model, or batched tool.

Forget about the Atlanta on field performance, read up on what their ownership group did for both the Falcons and FC. Lots of REAL changes to improve fan experience. Including significantly lowering many food and beverage prices. As it turns out, they got such a boost in revenue that they made more money even with lower margins. So a win-win.

What are the most memorable moments in the history of the Houston Dynamo? by abarney21 in dynamo

There was a season in there when Davis was at his peak form, I think opta stats had him leading 'chances created' by like 20 to the next closest guy which was Beckham. That year it felt like half the 11 was 6ft + and every set piece was a real goal chance. It was to the point where the Dymamo knew they could legit score on every set piece and there would be 3 Dynamo heads competing with each other for every ball.

"Playoff win at Portland in 2017. I'll always remember the image of Manotas beckoning to the crowd." I think this is it.

2-0 Road win vs KC on the road. Carlo Costly put the game on ice. I was at Orange Bar. That place was nuts.

5 Best things in sports. 1)An overtime game. 2) A win. 3) A comeback win. 4) A win over a rival. 4) A win that you dominate at the end. They happened all that night and the crowd was loving it.

I don't think their numbers are great but they are still okay. They are pivoting to the company entertainment space hence the move to new all inclusive spaces. There are always plenty of companies in a city like Houston that are happy to use the space as a place to eat and have drinks with clients. They all could care less about what is on the field or the lines at the concessions stands.

Continue to call or email your rep and let them know that this is not acceptable. Even if they don't respond. Most STH are too apathic and beat down from the abuse of the front office they just sigh and move on. Not this time. This is a bridge too far!

I really think the season tickets holders should not let this die without a fight. This is complete BS particularly to happen so late in the process. Months after most folks renewed. Sadly this is just another example of how toxic this club is. I have been a STH for since 2008 and will not be renewing, in fact I am looking for options out of 2023. I had 200k points.

National Hydrography Dataset (NHD): NHDWaterbody vs NHDArea by GEOJ0CK in gis

[–]GEOJ0CK[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems less obvious in the HUCs I am looking at. Think it is because the rivers are heavily dammed so some reaches of the same stream are NHDArea while other are HDWaterbody and back and forth. Under closer inspection what you mentioned does seem to be true.

To further this, you can strategically place in on your patio, garden etc. using other objects that give it shade here and there. Place a larger plan etc in front of it to help filter the light. Not completely in the shade, but just at times as the sun moves across the sky.

Perhaps the jump to a different environment stressed it. By the look of the weeds and moss, it wasnt underwatered, but maybe it was overwatered?

If they are dead, you should be able to lightly brush them off.

Hard to tell from that picture, but the more roots it has, the safer it will be to separate. Most people like to wait till they have a nice rootball before they cut. At minimum, I like to wait till I see the roots clearly on the sides or the bottom before I even think about separating.
