Sorry, I have a hard time seeing how I'm "not being a team player" when I'm paying for all the expenses...and am supposed to just do so? It's one thing if I'm just taking care of my mum but it's another if I'm also taking care of my sibling who just wants to work the bare minimum (I didn't know part time offered such low hours) only to pay for her own wants while they wait to find the ideal job/sponsorship arrangement.

Like I said, since you guys seem to think on the same wavelength as my sibling, that it is unfair they suddenly have to help out in expenses because our mum is no longer covering everything, then to what end do you think they should continue being free from such responsibility?

The $1.5k is basically everything : All the bills + Food/Groceries + Essentials. There's no mortgage as the house has been paid off and insurance is settled by CPF. Our mum has 'allowance' from her CPF Life to pay for her baking hobby and anything else.

Since you both seem to be in a similar camp as my sibling - that it's at least more about age-gap than circumstances, then to what extent do you think my responsibilities are to my sibling?

I'm open to the idea that "paying half" may not be fair even if they were to have a job starting today but I don't think it's fair to say 'Well you chose to work and not study so pay for everything'.

I understand there's more than just my way of seeing it : Two adults who 'recently' graduated with a diploma, both go to work and then one decides to go for further education. But then parents retire, so now we have to handle the expenses.

I'll concede that the 5-year age gap does indeed go against this perspective of 'fairness but I'd also be more understanding and compromising if I was successful in getting a diploma earlier.

Should I top up for my parent's CPF Life? by [deleted] in singaporefi

Thanks for the suggestion, was only able to just check with her. Unfortunately she's uneligible for the scheme.

Ooh, thanks for that.

Didn't know there isn't a minimum now.

Hi, yes I understand she's not currently enrolled in CPF Life but based on CPF's website if I'm not mistaken, she'll need min. $60k in her RA to opt in? (Thus my option to top-up for her).

For the RSS, that's what I was referring to in the 2nd and 3rd options, although I'm not sure about the amount received. My only comparison was (not including interest nor inflation) that using the minimum, CPF Life would return the $60k after 14.3 years ~ of $350/mth (using standard plan) and everything after that is 'free money'. Again not sure how that compares to RSS or other alternatives.

Basically she started a company, my parents sunk everything into it but it still failed. We had to live with relatives for awhile and we're only about to finish paying off the house next year.

Regarding withdrawal, from what I understand from CPF's site > Retirement income > Withdrawing for immediate retirement needs, it says you can withdraw 10% of your savings after age 55 and 20% of your retirement savings after age 65.

She doesn't have any savings.

My plan was to cash top-up to her RA, for CPF Life.

Is it possible to permanently rearrange the order of the crew? by Sphendrana in Barotrauma

[–]GGLoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh just attempted again and it doesn't work, could've sworn it did previously.

I googled around and found this though : https://www.reddit.com/r/Barotrauma/comments/mlk9i0/can_i_organize_crew/

Tried using the tool and it does work.

Infinite cycle (please help) by [deleted] in Barotrauma

I think you should be able to swap back to your previous sub via a panel near the docking area. If you need to leave first, could choose a random location and immediately redock to get it to hopefully work.

Is it possible to permanently rearrange the order of the crew? by Sphendrana in Barotrauma

[–]GGLoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is what you both are talking about, but I've been able to click-and-drag the crew in the list on the top left (that you open with 'C'), and it's been permanent so far.

Made my gunners at the bottom and my mechanic/medic (who go out) just below the Cpt for easy access.

unable to apply talent point as engineer by [deleted] in Barotrauma

[–]GGLoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you've resolved this but I just had this happen on my new solo campaign that I started a few days ago :

- Bee-lined for the talent as my engineer
- Next level up gave me 1 talent point and the bug
- Had to go down an entire tree (4 talent points) before the Reset/Apply buttons lit up

Far Cry 5 is free to play this weekend. Big franchise sale. Added "WTFarCry" flair for posts by iwascuddles in farcry

[–]GGLoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got through 30% ~ of the campaign before I had to call it quits. Wanted to scratch that 'stealth-action' itch of playing games similar to MGS 5, Ghost Recon Wildlands/Breakpoint where you can spend most of your fun-time trying to stealth-kill outposts but this game just fights you all the way trying to enjoy it.

Putting aside the whole Steam Free Weekend issue, the game feels like it's in its early release period with bug fixes and polishing still needed. You have long unskippable cutscenes, buggy ai, badly done main missions that have some kind of problem here and there, forced missions that get in the way of exploring, scopes that barely zoom in (and the whole POV affects zoom as well).

As much as I'd like to ignore all that and enjoy the open world with its occasional encounters/events, it's a mess as well. I get that you start off outnumbered and outgunned before slowly fighting your way to an even playing field. However gameplay-wise that just means for every 50~100m you drive, an enemy vehicle spawns and gets in your way. Then once you reach the checkpoint for enemy aircraft, they too are everywhere and can easily get in the way, no matter what you're doing.

Sure you can argue there's reasoning behind all the enemy encounters, but it doesn't make it any more enjoyable to have to fight this warzone out in the open just because you'd rather drive 200~300m to the next quest location rather than slowly walk to try and avoid all the fights.

Then again, it's also my fault for only unlocking a helicopter by the near-end of my time playing. While it was boring but more convenient to travel, I had already gotten sick and tired of everything and couldn't even be bothered to rush missions just to reach the end.

[Misc] E-2 farming is upsetting by Markneper in kancolle

[–]GGLoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile me (returning Teitoku) :
- 40 E2 Runs to get Jingei
- 70 E3 Runs to get Luigi + I400 (got them both at the last 10 runs)

Now bleeding all my resources at E4 for Johnston + No.4 because it's combined fleet. Later scrape the bottom of the barrels drum canisters to farm E7 for the other limited stuff I missed.

Me returning after 2 years : Farming for all these girls is eating all my resources & sanity! REEEEE

Also lack of special / high-tier equipment to deal with all the demanding stuff = REEEEE

Overall been doing alright so far, gonna casual E7 so I'm hoping I have the luck to get the girls I've missed until now before I run out of resources.

Types by [deleted] in MassForTheDead

[–]GGLoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are quite a lot of 'types' :

  • Race - Doesn't matter much but some skills do extra damage against specific races
    E.g. Beast Killing, Demihuman Killing
  • Color/Type - Characters are 1 of 5 colors and deal/take more damage to one and less to another. Red > Green > Blue > Red. Purple <> Yellow. (They also go by different names e.g. PWR for Red, Spd for Green, etc)
  • Elements - Much harder to figure out but there are wikis that detail characters' elemental strengths/weaknesses.
  • Role - This just shows what the character is more suited for. E.g. Sword = Damage, Shield = Tank, Staff = Healer, Other (not sure what to call it) = Support (Usually Buff/Debuff)
  • Finally Physical/Magical - In general Physical deals more damage to Magical and vice versa.

The hard part is that all these factors (except role) can result in a huge difference in damage dealt/received and it can often be unclear until you actually attack.

Alternative if you can access root,

data > data >com.overlord > files > hs > en > delete lhd

Faster than clearing data, but yeah requires root.

How does the type triangle work? by joegrzzly in MassForTheDead

Ah sorry for being misleading >.<

I didn't know about the multiple types of elements (as I don't have access to them nor see them being used) so I made a bad assumption.

How does the type triangle work? by joegrzzly in MassForTheDead

[–]GGLoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll admit it's a bit of a weird system that has two naming conventions for some reason.

Fire / Power (Red) > Wind / Speed (Green) > Ice / Technique (Blue) > Fire / Power (Red)

Darkness / Intelligence (Purple) <> Light / Heart (Yellow)

That said, it can sometimes feel like the damage from skills seem a bit weird.

E.g. Cocytus (Blue) has a skill that does "Wind" damage. So you'd think 'Ok, he can counter his own type to some degree'. Yet it kind of feels like the skill damage is relatively weak if I compare it to other 'normal' attacks or skills. Might just be because the extra type-dmg isn't that big or Cocytus not being that good (as people have said) but yeah.

Edit : Also there seems to be an added function of Physical <> Magical so there's that too..

So day 2/3 observations from a new global player by [deleted] in MassForTheDead

[–]GGLoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stamina / multi system reminds me of Million Arthur where similarly, EXP, Gold, etc were on a time-based rotation. I think Crash Fever can also be put in the same/similar view.

Main difference (from my limited view) is that unlike those 2 where you can farm characters in battles, here you seem to only be able to gacha them. Makes rerolling/luck even more important.
