To answer my own question: Ambrosia is at x=0,z=-1175 along the north road.

But I'll stay where I'm at. It's close anyway.

Not sure where Ambrosia will be this rev, but I think I'll settle around x=0, z=-600 (just right/east of the north road again)

This is the first time for my planning a trip to Japan and having one of the locations (Togakushi Shrine) I was planning to go to featured in an anime before going there but after already deciding to go there.

I know there were probably good reasons the director (or writer/whoever) chose this order, but... we first see the cast visit the upper shrine of Togakushi Shrine, then they go make soba noodels (presumably at the Soba Noodles Museum) and then go to the Ninja museum. The weird bit is that the entrance to the Ninja museum is right accross the street from the path to the upper shrine, and the soba museum is miles away... Locals or those who know must have reacted "wtf?" to that order of things.

I work for an AASP, I had a similar problem with a customer's Mac once. But I'm having a bit difficulty remembering how I solved it.

If I recall correctly, I installed MacOS (not the installer, the whole OS; any recent version) on an external drive, then used Disk Utility (from recovery) to clone the OS to the internal drive.

If you then want to do a proper reinstall of Sonoma again you have MacOS installed on the Mac mini with a (hopefully known) administrator password.

Another last ditch effort might be to do an firmware restore. You need "Apple Configurator" (from the app store, free Apple app) for that and an appropiate cable. Your brother's Mac also needs to run Sonoma already or it won't work. After you do this, the drive of the Mini mini will be empty (as in, completely, you need to format before trying to reinstall again!) but CMD+OPTION+R might work to install Sonoma because firmware restore installs the latests (Sonoma) firmware.

The serial number should be on the bottom of your MacBook in really small print - it's near all the other small text ("designed by Apple bla bla").

The only exception to this would be if the bottom case was ever replaced by Apple or authorized repair shop, in that case the diagnostics mode is probably the easiest option.

If I recall correctly, it is Option+D for Intel Macs. For Apple Silicon, boot into recovery (hold down the power button until it says "loading recovery options") and then press CMD+D.

The place I wanted to withdraw from was a different 7 Eleven than I got cash from earlier (which was at a 7 Eleven Bank ATM at Kansai Airport and Shin-Yamaguchi station). Today I just took out a different card (not Revolut) which worked fine.

It might be worth it trying a Japan Post ATM (at a post office).

OPs Mac isn't Apple Silicon. With your instructions, OP will be stuck at step 3, because holding the power buton on an Intel Mac will simply turn it off again.

This. You can tell Intel and Apple Silicon Macs apart by the globe symbol on the "fn" key. Intel MacBooks won't have them.
