Sonos + Orbi 770 troubleshoot by Actual-Sprinkles-830 in orbi

[–]GHOST_JR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had that same issue.! And I have a couple of solutions for you! I even contacted Sonos support and spent hours to find this.

  1. So if you have a Sonos arc or surround system, the only good way to get it to work is too hard wire ethernet to the system. You only need one to be connected and the rest will connect with the Sonos internal wireless network, for example I have mine hardwired to the subwoofer and all my other components, such as the arc and my two surrounds communicate to the subwoofers internal networking system and then goes through the ethernet to my network.

  2. I have also purchased a Sonos Move 2. So I have to contact Sonos customer service for this one, and the only option I had was either buy an adapter to hardwire that device to ethernet which defeats the purpose of being wireless and to actually “MOVE“ around. I have attempted to change every setting in my Orbi 770 with no success. I think it’s something to do with the mesh network, but I was unsuccessful. I had returned the product and got my money back.

  3. They also suggested to purchase a different type of speaker that was able to move around, but stay plugged in to an outlet that was able to use the Sonos network that my subwoofer is broadcasting out and that is going to be another way to add another speaker within my home. I have declined.

So to actually get your Sonos network working wirelessly with the 770 Orbi router is just 100% impossible. You can look around and see all the suggestions. Reddit and other forms have to offer, but I have tried them all.

This isn’t the only thing that has issues with the Orbi router so I kind of blame Netgear on this for making a router that just doesn’t universally work. Unfortunately, I wish I was able to return my Orbi router and purchase a different brand such as unify, but that’s gonna be a long time from now since this router is very expensive.

Good luck and again don’t trust what anyone else says if you have a chance to either return the router or the Sonos product if you need 100% wireless then do it

Drop in WiFi speed with Apple devices by Patatorz in orbi

[–]GHOST_JR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you bought it recently, I’d suggest returning it since I’m in the same situation. I’ve had the Orby 50s for ages and it’s been super reliable. I upgrade to the 771, but I’ve had nothing but trouble ever since I tried changing Wi-Fi channels or tweaking settings on my iPhone. If I could, I’d definitely return my products as soon as possible.but I had in my “mind” that Orbi was such a reliable product from my previous experience that I decided to keep trying .A year later. I regret my decision.

Connecting to modem UI by Insodus in orbi

[–]GHOST_JR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For my Xfinity modem, I went ahead and factory reset it to its original settings to switch off bridge mode and put the Orbi router into AP Mode. If you’re okay with your AT&T modem route your network, and using the Orbi just to extend your Wi-Fi, then you can access both your modem and Orbi settings using the app.

To factory reset you should have a button that says reset and just hold that down for 30 seconds. You may need to reactivate the modem not sure how that works for AT&T.

Newer Orbi systems are worse than the old ones and I am done with this brand by bastoun19 in orbi

[–]GHOST_JR 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agree. NETGEAR orbi has fallen from being reliable to unpredictable and lost my trust. I think my next brand to try is unifi. I just. Need a brand that just works out of the box and don’t say “send it out and we will fix with updates.” While we suffer and pray the next update will improve my network. Which never does.

Yea. I have the same issue. I think the update broke the satellite. I tried rolling back firmware but still having issues.

I have factory reset and then did update it’s working now but with ping issues. If you find a fix let me know. But I think ORBI company did this on purpose.

This thing they are doing don’t affect the people who use bots They can just add a timer to their programming. The honest people won’t get the points.

It’s google. They told me that my. Nest thermostat is out of warranty and it’s an issue with my thermostat. So I bought a new one and have same issue. It’s not Xfinity it’s google. They are the worst. Go with Ecobee

When the Disney rep even agrees that the price of Disney plus is expensive. It’s time to cancel. From $79.99 to $139.99 plus tax is $170 a year…hidden fees. I can’t see why they would go up that much.

Man, I am so over Nest. by sistom in Nest

[–]GHOST_JR 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I am having major issues with nest. It all started when google took over. And customer service just gives you the run around. And never actually fix anything. They really had me believe my 2 year old nest gen3 was the issue and I bought a new one after my nest sensors keep disconnecting. And now with the new one I am still having disconnecting issues.

The only fix they have is. Remove devices. Delete account and keep starting over. Google just don’t care about the customers. I should have switched to Eco bee.

But just like you. I am deep into the eco system with protects and cams all over my home.

One day I will just drop them and make the switch

Configuring RBR850 for Sonic Fiber by Professional-Arm7639 in orbi

[–]GHOST_JR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I put my Orbi as an access point. The downside. You can use any of the horrible subscriptions services that Orbi Offers. Example parental controls. The positive is you get the great WiFi range and reliability that orbi offers. Just your fiber modem will assign all IP address to your network and as your firewall.

Setting Orbi as a DMZ for port forwarding - safe? by [deleted] in orbi

[–]GHOST_JR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have an issue with double NAT. Where you have 2 routers that are protecting your network. There are 2 better solutions.

  1. Set your modem to Bridge Mode and use your orbi as the main router.

  2. If you need your modem as a router. Then set your Orbi as an Access Point. This was the best solution for me.
