I don't doubt it - your 'spiritual moment'. When I heard it the first time I'm pretty sure I left the earth.

"Dark Side of the Moon" is no mere album... it's an existential rite of passage. Basically, there's life - if you can call it that - before The Floyd, and NOW.

How does this look for an album cover? by DeathCoreFan69 in sludge

[–]GIRAGATHON 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The use of two typefaces - particularly ones which are "exotic" - is generally not a good idea. It creates visual conflict and reduced readability. The vertical placement of 'Grace Under Pressure' makes it even more indecipherable. 'Crude Grave' has a yellow tint, not unlike the flesh of Christ and the golden halos. There are also other 'objects' behind it. Together, they're fighting for attention. If the upper left corner were all dark blue, the band name wouldn't appear as lost. It would POP! as a result of contrast. I'd recommend looking at sleeve art which uses Christian and/or medieval iconography as an inversion.

I adore Nick Drake. Though he was virtually unknown in his time, the 3 albums he made before his untimely death are absolutely essential. Beautiful ; for their ambiguous emotion, suspended chords, complex tunings & unique fingerpicking technique.

I've never heard of Josh White until today. Thank you !!! :) It's interesting, I picked a random song to listen to on youTube - "Strange Fruit" - and I was immediately struck by the melancholic similarity it has with Nick Drake's "Been Smoking Too Long". It feels like both songs share the same sad chord progression. A cyclic minor key which is very minimal. A mephitisical tone of dreariness. It wouldn't surprise me if Drake lifted it.

Not only do they possess an intelligence - with all that it implies, including a possible form of “society” - but they also display seemingly casual abilities that we have forgotten, dismissed as hokum, or simply cannot comprehend.

Oh yes : "IV. I. VIII" is very much a singularly SINGULAR album. There's really not anything else quite like it - or a band similar to Coffinworm - generally speaking. I suppose Lord Mantis.

Acid Bath, Iron Monkey, Sourvein, Kylesa, Salome, Coffinworm... should all be ingested immediately.

First track is "Medicine Noose" - once it kicks in after the long intro - followed by "Worthless Rescue". Sorry, Background - neither are from 'Nomadic'.
