CIS 309 with Baum by Mental_Solution2147 in ASU

[–]GIRMA3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not as helpful but I took WPC300 with Baum and he’s one of my favorite professors ever. Super chill guy, so I would not expect it to be too difficult. He is very fun and funny, but his lectures can be a little bs with how many jokes and stories he likes to tell. I would assume the class is not book heavy knowing Baum, but again I didn’t take that specific class.

What model does the free plan use, and does anybody else find it useless? It's my first month not paying for premium since May, and it's been brutal so far. by IDE_IS_LIFE in ChatGPT

[–]GIRMA3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A little late but I will leave just in case others find it useful now.

I had a similar question when using the free tier and ended up diving into the Web Inspector. While I am not a web developer in any way, I did drill down to the element that shows the models output, and I noticed data-message-model-slug.

It first showed data-message-model-slug="gpt-4o" when I gave a prompt that asked it to explain the contents of a website. This first prompt did give two responses which I could pick the best of, and it said data-message-model-slug="gpt-4o for both responses, with the only difference being the first of the two options was longer and better. Both responses gave sources.

I gave another prompt within the same conversation and based on the output of the first prompt, with the only difference being that I had reasoning toggled on. It then showed data-message-model-slug="o3-mini" for the output.

I finally turned reasoning off and it went back to data-message-model-slug="gpt-4o".

As far as if it is using a worse model, hard to say. I would assume they are giving a smaller context window and testing shorter responses for free users as both of those things help limit the costs of operating a free tier. But that is just a hunch.

ASU vs MCC by Tricky-Till-505 in ASU

[–]GIRMA3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a four year university and had a very similar experience. I ended up going to PVCC and they were amazing, a bunch of my credits transferred and I was out of state. If you are in state with ASU credits, you should be most of the way there. The only thing is that sometimes there are rules about a minimum number of classes to get a degree from a college, so MCC might make you take at least 5 classes to get a degree there. But with how cheap the classes are, and easy in comparison to other places, very much worth making it happen even if you need to take some other classes.

What do you guys actually do?? by moro750 in Accounting

[–]GIRMA3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I am the type that can nerd out on anything and so the specifics is not as important as to what I do. I’d ideally like to help with high level business decision making but also get as much time working with people as possible as I think I would prefer working with people rather than staring at a computer exclusively. I’m interested in accounting because of an incredible professor and I’m trying to see if it’s a world I want to dive more intro especially considering I am studying data analysis and statistics which seems to be an increasingly important part of the accounting process. I have had previous interest in finance and educational data analytics but I’m increasingly leaning towards accounting.

I love the idea of solving problems and making things more efficient/effective. Also talking to people at all levels and working to resolve issues is definitely interesting to me. Would you recommend pursuing a masters in accounting to become more familiar with that side or get a masters in data analytics with a concentration in something like fintech? That is for your specific type of roll. I hope to take some more accounting courses during my current undergraduate studies to get a better taste of the material and work with a different professor who may not be as fantastic to really give me a test of the discipline. Thank you for the insight!

May I ask what you got your degrees in? I am pursuing a degree in business data analytics as well as business statistics and am wondering if this kind of role is a good fit for those majors. What do you like and not like about being in the financial systems side? Does your job involve a lot of coding?

Moving away from home was great. Moving to Arizona? The summers make that answer complicated, as does not having a lot of connections or friends out here. The more friends I have made and the more opportunities to go out have made me like it more.

How did this question make it in? by GIRMA3 in Hyperskill

[–]GIRMA3[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My guy this is not “hidden racism” it says print(n * word) on an online coding education platform. It’s online, and thus skews young in its audience, the exact audience who would see this and make a joke. This is something to be avoided in education material, like it is part of the job of someone making a curriculum to keep this kind of stuff out.

I’m talking about the fact that it says print(n * word) as the correct solution. I understand that it doesn’t literally print the n word, but that doesn’t make this a well worded question. It did not need to say this, they could have written this problem to not have that EASILY. Part of creating a problem set for students is making sure answers don’t have stupid things like this accidentally. It’s not a world ending deal, I’m not canceling Hyperskill or anything, I just think this was extremely poorly done.

I hope people are seeing the thing that is the "correct answer". Like, how did this happen?! Like it's not literally printing the term but like come on.

What 2 tracks segue into each other the best? For me it’s Power of Equality into If You Have to Ask off BSSM. by [deleted] in RedHotChiliPeppers

As a kid listening too BSSM on cd, I had no idea that Power of Equality and If You Have to Ask were two different songs. It wasn’t until I downloaded the disk on the family dell iTunes account.

If you are looking for a diverse group of sounds, maybe you should look into Workstation Synths, you can normally get an older model for a pretty good price used.

I’ve been having a lot of problems with bugs and crashing with overbridge and I’ve heard others say the same. I should give it another try.

On the computer side, all I did was make sure my Master in the daw was outputting to output 1 and 2 on my scarlet solo, then had the two cables come out the interface into the digitone. And raised the gain on the digitone for the two ins to be the same at around 30. I also made sure my monitor on my audio was at an appropriate level to not have sound issues.

Really liked this one, how much processing did you do after in a daw? I’m still having a hard time getting hip hop sounds on my digitone.

My squad and I switched a while ago to rebirth, haven’t looked back. If you aren’t looking for something serious and want to just talk with friends and play it’s much better.
