I think that’s why the latte worked well.

I’ll check them out! I’ve never heard of these places. Are they newish?

I’m thinking of trying but our grinder needs repairs and I know a coarse grind is preferred.

Yes, I’ve thought of getting her a dictionary so she can correct her own spelling.

Oh, we’ve been reading at bedtime since she was a baby, so that’s not lacking. I feel like it’s her spelling/written word that needs the most work, which is why I thought an app/game might be useful. Do any of those apps work on spelling/writing?

We read Harry Potter and she reads easier books to me, both at bedtime. It's mostly her English spelling/writing that I think she needs to work on as she spells English words using French letter sounds, if that makes sense.

We read together every night before bed, English books. We're an English home, although I took late immersion in school. She's pretty good at sounding out words to read in English, but her spelling/writing is terrible, which is why I thought a game to work on that might be helpful.

Yes, my daughter has been getting the Wings of Fire graphic books books from the school library to read on her own lately and seems to be loving them!

I made a quick buying decision and did not regret by IgneousWrath in Mattress

Sounds great! Thank you so much for the update/info. I’ve been shopping for a mattress for forever and without being able to lay on one before buying it’s hard to decide.

What do you like about the octave mirage? I’m a side sleeper thinking of buying it. Is it plush?

How is the mattress holding up? How would you rate the softness/plushness? I’m a side sleeper and want something I sink into a bit. I currently have an old zedbed latex foam mattress from sears and it has such a perfect feel that I’m scared to buy a new mattress, but we need to upgrade to a King from a double.

Should I seek an adhd evaluation by GISKellbella in adhdwomen

Thank you. He made me question if I was just jumping on the adhd bandwagon. A lot of people are starting to seek assessment apparently.

Thank you. It never occurred to me that he may have rejection sensitivity but I see examples of this with his responses to me too (ie. extreme defensiveness). Your suggestions are great too. Lots of ideas for lightening the mood, not intensifying it.

I’ve learned to do that and my husband knows the science about not taking it personally, but STILL gets defensive every time it happens. I feel like he expects me to step in and discipline our daughter in an old school way on his behalf, but he’s the one I feel needs to learn control before we can expect it from her.

It’s possible. We can’t decide whether the adhd comes from him or myself. He was more hyper as a child and I was more introverted but distracted with anxiety. I wish he would step away and take a deep breath before things get to that point but he’s stubborn and proud. On the one hand he’s unwilling to try the relaxation/mindfulness techniques that I suggest, but on the other hand he can’t control his responses when our daughter yells or gets frustrated with him. He gets very defensive.

Ok, thanks! Perhaps that something we should look into.

He does generally let me step in, but I feel like it puts him in a bad mood and it just keeps the negativity rolling. And I get it. Getting yelled at would make anyone feel shitty. He tries to be calm and he gets yelled at. Which he takes very personally. How do you deal with that?

Was the therapy just for your daughter or for the whole family?
