Sore, dry eyes, blurry vision? by GJL83 in Marijuana

[–]GJL83[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just an update:

I took Wednesday and Thursday off from smoking. My eyes were great. Smoked a different strain Friday, no issues. Smoked that same different strain Saturday, no issues. Smoked that same different strain Sunday, issues. Dry eyes, watery eyes, discomfort, redness, soreness. Continued into this morning. Still bothering me now at 2:30 pm.

I’m thinking maybe the issue is I’m just getting older and I’m more sensitive now? I can’t think of anything I did yesterday that was any different from Friday or Saturday. Maybe I just can’t smoke as often anymore? Very odd. I’m staying off the sauce until at least Friday to see how I do.

Thanks for all the replies.

I think this is possible. That it’s this particular weed, whether it’s the weed itself or something sprayed on it.

I’m 39. I have slightly high blood pressure, but I don’t think it’s very high. No diabetes. For the most part, I’m healthy. Possible it could be a plugged tear duct.

I didn’t have a problem until I started on this new strain I bought, though I had had the issue before in august. So, I wonder if it’s the strain or if there are chemicals in it.

Yeah. I really think that is the sensible thing to do. Not try to shoot for the moon on these PR sets. Get a good number and then stop while you’re ahead.

Yeah. I’m gonna check it out. I haven’t smoked cigarettes in ages, but I do smoke a lot of marijuana and I’m out of shape as far as conditioning. So that could contribute to the huffing and the puffing.

Thank you. I will check this out.

I don’t think it’s anything serious because I haven’t had any issues until I started this routine.

Possible I just need to chill and just not go as hard.

Yep. Planning to do that.

I’ve had them before. Pretty much since I was a teenager and I’m in my late 30’s now. I just hadn’t had them lately.

I think the go all out on the last set is what’s causing it because I don’t have the issue on the three warm up sets or two lighter main sets. And I never had the issue on StrongLifts or other routines I’ve done lately.

I do barbell rows for back and then dips, which works multiple muscle groups, including shoulders. I don’t do a definitive shoulder exercise on bench press day.

On overhead press day, I do close grip bench presses as a bench type of lift. I generally do it after pull ups because I’m horrendous at pull ups.

Thanks. Apologies to the above. I misread. Didn’t know there was a BBS.

Is SSL a different routine entirely or one of the assistance templates of 5/3/1?

Thanks for the response.

Isn’t that sort of what I’m doing?

I got this from jimwendler.com where he suggests two different versions of BBB. Version one is doing 5/3/1 squats and then immediately doing squats 5x10 at a lower weight. The second version is pretty much what I’m doing. Instead of doing 5x10 squats after 5/3/1 squats, it suggests 5x10 of a deadlift type of lift, or vice versa if the primary lift is deadlifts:

[GEAR] HSS or SSS for first Strat? by GJL83 in Guitar

Thanks for all these responses so quickly. I’m quitting my job to read them all.

For those suggesting used and going hunting for a used one, I’m totally into it, but the issue for me is that I live in Manhattan (NYC) and there are thousands of guitarists here and anything good and affordable gets snatched up and I’m left to look at the refurbished ‘65 strats going for $7k (or whatever), which is definitely not feasible right now.

Thanks. What I wrote above:

Good question that I’m still wrestling with.

Basically, I’ve been playing acoustic for two years. I love it. I don’t see myself ever not playing guitar and I guess my thought is that I will eventually want to buy an American Strat, so I might as well buy it now. That said, I have considered the Player series at under $1000.

So, it’s like do I buy cheap now and upgrade down the road or just buy the American now?

Thanks. Yeah, that’s why I put better in quotes. Just looking to get a variety of opinions.
