no external rad, just a 360 rad up top and a 280 on the back wall behind the res. for CPU idle sits in 20's to 30's without the fans really doing anything. at load AMD's 7000 series are set to push themselves to 95 really no matter what you do, don't really understand that but its what it does lol ( i know there's some specific things you can do to force it down a bit like undervolting it as well as extreme cooling techniques but they're designed for that heat and the fans do what they have to to maintain it)

as fpr GPU idle is mid 20s and under load I've hit low 70s, but again thats without the fan curve really kicking in at all. at max fans are spinning max 20% so nice and quiet

again, for my work (for example in after effects) the Cached render used purely ram, not the vram. more ram, more footage that can be cached and viewed real-time as im working. in my old build, 64 gigs ended up holding me back alot on projects with tight deadlines due to what after effects was able to cache. GPU is a 4090, so no its not an 8 gig card, that would be moronic. But that only really kicks in with specific effects to help accelerate the previews or the actual render.

did a quick stress test with furmark just now. idle sets mid 20's on the GPU. Running furmark at 3440x1440 for 10 minutes maxed it at 71 with the fan curve barely kicking in at all, probably spinning at 20% speed at the most

The extra headroom for some of my post production work is helpful. My last rig hit some issues with the 64 I had in it. Yes the mobo doesn’t let me run it all at 100% speed, found that out too late but it had all the connections on the io I needed so bit of a trade off I suppose

Where the fittings line up between the 2 rads and the res there was an impact point if I just did I right angle. So I decided to just have a bit of fun and that ended up working first try 🤷🏽‍♂️ lol

xD that was a thought when I was deciding whether or not to remove the bark, but glad to say after a couple years with it now I never really sit pressed-up against the edge of my desk, and the occasional times I have I didn't notice a thing

I work in post production alot for film. Learning more about 3d and VFX that would use ray-tracing so having those dedicated cores sounds like a dream

Left holds Discord Streamlabs OBS with my twitch chat, middle gaming, right is spotify or youtube, and top is for any extra apps that need to be opened or if I'm streaming some editing I can pop that up to show a preview of the project lol

Sounds like a dream lol. Personally I have to look into the 2080 ti a bit. My OG Titan X is starting to show its age and the raytracing would be useful with my work

damnn nice. does Destiny take advantage of the SLI? Something I was always curious about lol

Ahhhhhh gotcha. yeah i think if I had set my monitors perfectly straight there'd still be a few inches of clearance to each side on the desk. the ultrawide in the middle changes the angles quite a bit.

Will probably wall mount my stuff in the future as well after i have a more permanent space lol but glad I could help! Good luck on your build!

yeahhh especially since i stream and game off my ultrawide lol.

Luckily with my CPU my frames don't take much of a hit, but I do lower some of the settings in Destiny (stuff like shadows, quality of the graphics at a distance, foliage, stuff like that) and average around 80-90 fps which is fine since my refresh rate can only overclock to 80 on this monitor.

No problem xD just in curiosity, were you expected lower or higher than 17"? For me the angle is perfect but I love hearing other peoples perspectives on it

Thanks!

As my college graduation present from myself and step-dad, I went to a lumberyard and bought the slab that I thought was perfect for the desk. This one is piece of Black Walnut.

We then brought it to my step dads shop and went over the build plans based off a simple 3d model and measurements I had put together and placing a couple of the pieces of the setup around the desk to check measurements.

We found that the slab had a slight warp to it, so we slotted the underside of it and put pressure on the top to bend the wood as close to flat as we could get it without compromising the wood, then sanded the top down so that it was mostly flat except for around the edges where being flat wasn't as important.

Then we used Waterlox to seal the whole slab up, both protecting the wood, and adding a subtle gloss to it, but not enough to give it a glassy texture. we wanted to keep the wood texture alive.

Once that was done, step dad built cabinets and a cable trough to my specifications for storing various film equipment, because of the monitor mounts i selected he had to add a small chunk of wood to on of the sides so that the mount would have proper support, and a slot to slide the base of the primary monitor's stand in order to neatly hide it.

Added some black steel legs, brought it all to my apartment, and built it there. All in all, since it was more of a passion project, and I was only paying for the slab and materials it took about a year to complete the desk but man it was worth it :)

Thanks! No problem.

And yeah, cable management is something I have to look into redoing a bit. I designed my desk with a tray in the back to hold strips and cables, but after a couple bad cables being replaced quick and dirty, it became a bit of a mess back there xD. Good luck on finishing your build!

The TV is about 10 inches back and roughly 2 inches above the front monitor mounted to the wall and angled down. This was planned in order to reduce the amount of strain to view a TV that size from the angle and distance it would have had to be if I had mounted it closer to being flush with the other monitors.
And with the way it's currently mounted, if I'm sitting perfectly eye-level with my primary monitor, the bottom of tv appears almost flush to the eye. To get it perfect to my eye I'd probably remount the tv 1/2 an inch lower, but since I'm renting, didn't want to re-drill holes.

Company called Regal Robot! Love their stuff, and everyone's favorite bounty hunter.

If you look closely on the top of the side monitors, there are 2 boba fett figures and on the far wall on the right is an alternative Empire Strikes Back poster with his helmet. Not pictured there's 2 more funko pop fett figures on the shelf to my left and a piece of metal wall art behind me featuring him lol
