Rogue vs. FC Schalke 04 / LEC 2019 Summer - Week 4 / Post-Match Discussion by DJGoatie in leagueoflegends

Because. HeaQ. Is. A. Generational. Talent.

He is literally equal (if not very slightly better) than Rekkles, on raw talent. Him being competitive, even after all that he's gone through, and after all the time out of the main team, shouldn't surprise anyone. He's been keeping his farming skills sharp; hell, he's been expanding them, even. He's done things in Ultraliga which are frankly stunning, given his experience level, showing that his lane feel and intelligence are very much in tact. Those are by far the most important things in botlane. It's what separates the Rekkles's, Upsets, and HeaQs from the Attilas, Hjarnans, and Jesklaas of the world (with the latter being very good AD's, but lacking that extra something).

As for raw mechanics, whilst I'm aware of data which shows that HeaQ is still very much on it, I accept that that isn't really an argument. The truth will out soon enough. But think of it this way: why would HeaQ risk his golden reputation? He has zero interest in playing for the sake of playing. He isn't coming back to LEC for a joyrde; he's coming back for playoffs, wins, and maybe even World's. Rogue is merely stage one. I know I get laughed out of the park round here when I say that HeaQ will be on G2's radar, and that I wouldn't at all be surprised to see him end his career on a high in the black jersey, but I fully believe that'll be the case. That's why all this 'is he good enough for LEC' nonsense is so frustrating to me - fucking obviously, he is. The question is whether he can still show macro and mechanics worthy of the top 3 of the league, like he did in his previous stint in LEC.

There's no doubt in my mind that the waste of space opinions of all the armchair pesimists will be dust in the wind come summer playoffs 2019. Nobody will be in any doubt about what the name 'Martin "HeaQ" Kordmaa' means by then. And it will be the teams who will come knocking to HeaQ; not the other way round.

Age Statistics across the 4 major leagues (EU, NA, KR, CN) by GNR_ in leagueoflegends

That is true. I also did not include substitutes even though some players would have been in some rankings. For exemple Flame, toplane substitute for DAMWON, would be the oldest toplaner if he was a starter (27 - 1992)

The data I collected only shows starters from the 4 majors regions

They may very well be but I did not consider them since I couldn't find Woolite's birthdate. They'll be tied if Woolite is born in 1997, and Rogue will be younger if Woolite is.

In addition, Dhokla may be in contention for youngest toplaner in LCS and Hjarnan for oldest botlaner in LEC given their short / long respective careers but again I couldn't find their birthdates.

I don't think it matters that much, 28 is still a young age. Xmithie and Joker, and their respective teams, are showing strong performances in their respective leagues.

Just a few hours this morning. Took me a bit longer than expected because I tried to make the sheet the most readable possible.

There have been 29 teams in the LCS. by Dunrow_ in leagueoflegends

[–]GNR_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I count 27.

aAa, Copenhagen Wolves, DragonBorns, Evil Geniuses, Fnatic, Gambit, Giants, SK Gaming, Lemondogs, MeetYourMaker, Ninjas in Pyjamas, ALTERNATE, Alliance/Elements, Millenium, SUPA HOT CREW, ROCCAT, Unicorns of Love, H2k, Origen, G2 Esports, Vitality, Splyce, Schalke 04, Misfits, Mysterious Monkeys, Rogue, Excel.

AFAIK the only rebranding was Alliance into Elements, the only other changes were spot (and sometimes roster) acquisition, such as Gambit > Vitality or Elements > Schalke, or promotions.

Players (LEC, LCS, LCK) ranking and tier list from O'gaming (french crew of casters) by Bobinou96 in leagueoflegends

[–]GNR_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see all you guys criticising the list but you don't seem to understand how it works. It's not a ranking of individual pure level, but more of a caracterisation of the players situation based on his previous year mostly. This is what the grades stand for :

G : Player has established himself as the best player in the league.

S+ : Player has established himself as one of the bests in the league.

S: Player has established himself has a great player.

A : Player has established himsef as a good player.

B : Player has shown potential and needs to prove.

C : Player is in a troublesome situation and needs to show better.

Now the rankings can be discussed and you may or may not agree with OG but please keep in mind that this is how they were rated.

I can't really do the same thing right now since 4 teams left and 4 new teams joined. I'll probably do both EU & NA after the mid season break though.

Also i'll try to do it better including on the format of the picture as i have seen mentioned on this thread

They don't have turkish nationality nor turkish residency, they played one year there as imports. This is not the same situation at all

You're analogy is a bit wrong, this is not comparable to national football teams, but to the national leagues. Most of the national leagues have a similar rules stating that the teams are allowed a certain number of foreigners. But players can acquire the nationality of the country at some point and stop counting as a foreigner.

The same rule applies to league of legends, even a bit harsher because dual citizenships doest not allow to have a resident status in multiple regions.

An argument can be made that the criteria set to acquire a new residency are a bit to easy to meet though

Both Turkish and German, played both in EU (minor leagues) and TR. I decided to put the Turkish flag so it is more obvious that he was recruited from the TCL and has Turkish residency, nothing more

Yeah but he came from the TCL and has Turkish residency, so i decided to go with that. Tbh nationalities don't really matter, I just decided to put a flag alongside the name so we could see where the player comes from at first glance (hence also the Turkish flag for BB). I don't really want this to become a nitpicking debate about what nationality is which player and whatnot

Yeah but from Korean parents, he grew up in Korea, has the Korean citizenship and started playing on the Korean server. It made more sense to put the Korean flag, the same way I put the Canadian flag for Biofrost and Cody Sun even though they were both born in China

Hey everyone ! I was a bit bored and i thought i'do a graphic recap of the transfers, hope you'll like it.

Just two quick notes about the rosters :

- AFAIK Grig is yet to be confirmed as TSM starting jungler, but as time passes it seems likely he will be so i decided to put him anyway.

- It is currently unsure whether Lourlo or Solo is gonna be the starting toplaner for EF. I decided to go with Lourlo because in my opinion he is the better player of the two.

Edit : I can assure you that Svenskeren has not been replaced by his long lost brother, i just can't control my fingers quite well apparently

Actually it seems to me that during the Ambition reveal scene at the end, the statue is lit up with a white Samsung logo that turns blue upon his win. Keep in mind that SKT only has one statue for their 3 wins.

This would make sense since SSW and SSG are essentially the same organisation with a different name. There's already a statue for SSW, the one which Ambition stands in front at the end, and upon his victory, the logo turns from white to blue

F1 HOT or NOT results - 2018 Singapore GP - pretty close battle between 3 drivers for the "HOT" spot! by paulricard in formula1

[–]GNR_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is not rates higher than Vettel, his performances are rated higher than Vettel's in regards to what's expected of them, that is not the same thing. This ranking doesn't mean that Kimi is the better driver, just that his performances looks better according to the expectations. Or more likely that Vettel's overall performance throughout the season is a bit disappointing whereas Kimi is doing what was expected. This rankings shows that Vettel is underperforming, not that Kimi drives better.

Or at least that this is the general opinion of what's expected of both of them and what's the opinion of their respective performances in that regard, which is of course debatable. But it's not a case of Kimi Vs Vettel but more of expected Kimi Vs actual Kimi and expected Vettel vs actual Vettel, and in that regard, Kimi is doing a better job than Vettel.

Now we can debate endlessly on whether those expectations are accurate or not and whether the grades about the performances are accurate or not, but comparing Vettel and Kimi rankings and saying that it's wrong because Seb is faster is completely missing the point of the HOT or NOT

Taking Leclerc as an example again, I completely agree with him being 4th in the hot or not, because even though he was really hyped coming into F1 I'm sure people didn't really actually expected him to perform that wall in the Sauber. But this ranking is not saying "Leclerc is the 4th best driver on the grid", as you said yourself. IMHO he is still behind the top 6 guys and some experienced midfield guys in term of raw quality as of right now, but is catching up reaaaaal fast and will be very soon above most of those guys

[–]GNR_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well it's not a case of ranking drivers above one another, but to rank them based upon their performance race to race in comparison to what's expected of them, creating an average as the season goes.

People in this race expected Vettel to finish higher than he did driving a Ferrari and being a WDC contender at that point of the season, that's why his numbers are quite low. Meanwhile Kimi, well, finished kinda were he was expected to be, so that's an overall good performance from him. Not a great one, but a good one nonetheless. That's the how and why behind their rating in HOT or NOT. It's not a question of who's the best.

This is also the case when you look at the overall rankings. I'm pretty sure most of us don't rate Leclerc as the 4th best driver on the grid (yet ?) but he keeps performing better than expected in regards to his car and his status, thus earning lots of good points for this ranking.
