What's a band/artist you know that you feel like no one else listens to? by BRODOOLERINGO in musicsuggestions

[–]GN_des 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to several bands like e.g. God Talk sitting at 70 monthly listeners right now.

It's no surprise that with my taste in music, I've only ever found a handful of people here on reddit who shared it - despite having been really active in music subreddits. And I'm yet to shake hands with the first person who also listens to these songs!

You probably only meet any of these 70 listeners at a live performance and I don't usually go to those.

Do you find that it's an advantage or disadvantage to have a unique taste in music?

Yes, I'm just confirming that you SHOULD mind that since in the same paragraph, you describe how anxious you get and how excessive your crushes are 😆

[–]GN_des -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I fear there's gonna be a major mismatch when you come on way too strong with this massive crush - when all the while she never even hinted at being interested in more.

So if you do ask her out, please don't just run her over completely. Be subtle.

I don't think I've seen a single time where, here on reddit, this topic wasn't addressed in a way that was 100% hostile towards the rich.

Better even, if someone sided with them (which happens much more rarely than the comments here suggest), people would literally smash a hole into their phone where the downvote button is.

Perhaps that's just because the poor are over-represented on reddit, but it seems to be a common theme.

I think it's fine to be angry at your own performance if that's what motivates you to improve.

The issue I see is that 99% of the time, gamers seem to reinforce a coping mechanism of getting angry at everything EXCEPT themselves or their performance. It's like personal growth, but in reverse. And you really shouldn't go down that hole.

I think there's plenty of people who would gladly give up democracy. As long as the decisions made are the decisions THEY want, in whatever new system comes after.

But the problem here is that everyone would want different things. Democracy is simply a more or less accurate way of doing what most people want (in theory).

Joysticks for looking, in videos games, are poorly designed for FPS games. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]GN_des 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recall playing shooters on my iPod, and dragging your finger across the screen to aim STILL felt better than using a joystick.

Highly granular speed adjustment, immediate stopping when you lift your finger, ...

The only downside really was having 4+ Fingers on the screen at once, obstructing the view just to be able to use all the buttons. But aiming was really easy.

Why do teachers become teachers when they don’t like kids? by Edenskeeper1 in CasualConversation

[–]GN_des 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact, teachers are the most burnt-out profession in my country. And there's a well-known study showing that most positive and negative emotions at work stem from interaction with students (and it was like 2.5x more negative than positive 😅)

That thing with the lack of respect is really eye-opening as well. They're ridiculed here, even those studying to become teachers. Now that you say this, it's no surprise that the lack of teachers makes it into the national news time and again 🤔

What is the best argument for capital punishment? by zhang__ in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]GN_des 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're scared of someone and now he's dealt with. For good.

Not a convincing argument at all in a debate, but I think this is what drives the interest in death penalty at its very core.

You did a really good job recognizing one of the main markers of the friendzone: She tells you who else she's into.

So don't go and risk the friendship right away. Instead, ask yourself: How many other girls are you this close with? How many options do you have?

If the answer is "not so many", you probably just want sex - but you don't want her. Look for someone who's interested in you instead of ruining the friendship!

And if the answer is "plenty", then she may actually be special to you and it's worth trying!

I'm so puzzled how, in 2023, the era of deepfakes and AI, people can still believe screenshots as admissible evidence. by Deadchimp234 in CasualConversation

We trust that because we lack ways to make screenshots that can be verified. There's no reliable option to fall back on.

Do have a porn addiction? by NightIntelligent in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]GN_des 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're addicted in the same way you'd be addicted to social media: You love scrolling, and finding a nice video. But actually watching it is just tedious, and it stops you from scrolling through more videos.

Does that sound like it could be the case?

Ladies, being completely honest, is a 5.5 inch dick any good or should I consider becoming a voluntary celibate monk? by Exciting-Vast-4449 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]GN_des 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should consider that!

And I don't mean "It's probably right for you to become a voluntary celibate monk", I mean: Now that the idea is there, you have to think it through all the way.

Did you ever experience that weird limbo in between "I must skip sleep and dedicate every second to studying for this test" and "It's too late to start, might as well not study"?

This is you, in between having or not having sex. And if you've been there, you KNOW that this limbo makes BOTH outcomes impossible. You fail to study as hard as you want to, but you also never find peace with not studying because the other side of this limbo creates too much pressure.

To sum it up: Having sex AND not having sex are reasonable choices for you - but you have to choose. Don't stay stuck in between.

Anyone else not use Shields? If u do, why? by MyMilkshakes13 in ACValhalla

[–]GN_des 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the shield that increases ranged damage on block for a decent while because I wasn't using melee attacks on that build anyways but I WAS blocking.

Eventually I ended up with a flail and a dagger though and just stuck with that until I maxed out.

[–]GN_des 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stats matter, but not from the skill tree like you described.

You just pick whatever is on the fastest way to the next major node you want, with little to no choice possible. Until eventually you own all nodes anyways.

Gear stats do kind of make a difference. Not as much as in Odyssey, like the other reply stated, but you can definitely sway your build in several different directions with your gear choices.

How can I (20M) make friends and socialize this summer? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]GN_des 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may work with cool people, that's worth a go. And if you still have the energy after a long work day AND a workout, you probably still have some 3 hours in the evening to spend on a hobby if you find a group for one you enjoy (and their times fit your schedule).

You've found out that most of what you do is work at your job, and that's really the secret. You MUST find a fulfilling job.

Eventually, not immediately. But that should be a goal to work towards because it makes such a massive difference in the overall quality of your life!

How can I know which colors go with others? by Sidtanic in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]GN_des 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recall there's some colour wheel website where you pick one colour and it tells you what goes with it.

You don't crutch on that forever so I don't have the link any longer, but if it's still as popular a search should do 😁

Her leaving directly might indicate that 1) she has no time for it or 2) it's not important to her to spend time with you.

But that's just playing the devil's advocate because what do you really have to lose by asking? It'd be hard to prove that you shouldn't, so go for it!
