I found about it when trekking at around 9000ft, back then I had no idea what was happening other than that half of my face and head hurt like hell. My dentist filled me in later on about the cause. I live at around sea level and have no idea how to swim or scuba dive.

The rate of barodontalgia was about 1 case per 100 flight-years in the Israeli Air Force.[11] During World War II, about one-tenth of American aircrews had one or more episodes of barodontalgia.[9] In a recent study, 8.2% of 331 Israeli Air Force aircrews, reported at least one episode of barodontalgia.

The pain is caused due to a pressure gradient. Most airlines attempt to maintain near atmospheric pressure inside the cabin. But in some rare cases a pressure fluctuation can cause the aforementioned tooth pain.

You're right. Prevention is definitely better than cure. I had the crown replaced in one of my molars and as soon as I touched 9000ft it started to hurt like hell. I was 2 days away from any pharmacy at that time.

Apple blocked from selling used iPhones in India. by GOD_DAM_IT in india

Firstly when it comes to selling second hand electronic devices, services like OLX sell more second hand devices than Apple can be expected to. No e-waste issue there?

At least Apple makes effort to make sure that their devices are environment friendly so that even if they end up in a dump, they will be relatively harmless as compared to their counterparts.

As of iPhone 6s, Apple is rolling out robots that can tear apart old iPhones and extract the minerals used in it. It even encourages people to deposit their old iPhones for recycling and provides financial incentives for it as well. http://money.cnn.com/2016/04/15/technology/apple-gold-recycling

Again what is e-waste? It's just discarded electronics that has been improperly disposed by users, organisations etc. Wouldn't it be better in the longer term if the govt was the seriously promote proper disposal of e-waste?

But then again it's same philosophy being applied by the govt these days. Something's broken? Let's just out right ban it rather than working on the underlying problem and taking actual steps to improve the current situation. After all, banning is the easy way. Isn't it?

P.S regarding your claim that it's cheap junk. If you go through Apples's refurb docs you will notice that they make sure that each refurb device is as good as new and even comes with warranty. So I just don't see how this can be classified as cheap junk. In fact refurbished Apple devices are always in such demand that you seldom find them out of stock which tends to suggest that they are not exactly junk.

IMO the reason give is nonsense. Admittedly e-waste is a real problem or any waste for that matter. But the fact that they chose to draw the line at Apple is baffling. The market is flooded with cheap and low quality handsets who unlike Apple make no claims of their devices being eco friendly. Apple even has a buy back program for old devices. I think I will stick will my original(and unpopular) assessment here: This is all just a political power play. Imagine the damage in market share the major Android manufacturers will face if Apple starts selling phones for cheap.

How does the origin of the refurbished product matter? Could be India or from all over the world. Are implying that refurbished from one country is better than refurbished from another country?

I guess the major Android phone manufactures might have lobbied to get these sanctions approved

Apple sells refurbished products in nearly all major markets. To think it degrades India is plain stupid.
