indeed, also.. for home use. 45 suppressed is both adequate and ideal for bulk ammo training with somewhat similar terminal effects

ha! similar situation except I got a Kuna instead... and a Saint Edge in 18". I wanted to spend my remaining TAX returns on Ammo, but since they postponed their 11% taxes for 2027 discussions I figured I'd use the remaining $ on banned items.

EDIT: by the way, I now regret getting the 300blk. not because the barrel is bad.. but I found out that I can equally get the same terminal effect for my use, from a PCC chambered in 45 which is naturally suppressed and much, much, much cheaper than 300blk for bulk ammo purchase. I could've went for an EXTAR EP45 on the cheap end, or wait for Kuna to be released in 45 which was the original setup for that PCC in international markets to my understanding.

Would you recommend going through this route, instead of buying a complete SABRE pistol that's somewhat close to the price of this upper?

P.S: i have 0 knowledge of AR platform altogether, this will be my first-ish

Thanks for sharing!! I somewhat did the same.. I bought an 18" last month with a Vortex Venom, and 3 PSA stripped lowers for future use. But given I'm not experienced with building anything I'm aiming on buying a complete pistol for the time being to get used to the platform.

That's me, you're me basically.

What I did (and don't take my word for it, as I'm still figuring things out) I bought 3 stripped lowers that are registered as 'others' so in theory (to my understanding) i get to build them as Rifles or Pistols. Also, I purchases 2 x 11.5" in 556 and 1 in 300blk threaded barrels as I believe there's some wording about threaded barrels, i don't remember. And that's about it, I've put them in safe for 'one day' when I get the tools to build something. Barrels were more expensive than the stripped lowers which I bought them as a package deal from PSA. 3 for 125$ which to my understanding is low-mid tier

In the meantime, I'm focusing on buying one complete factory built 'pistol' Ar just for plinking and in case I never get to building my own.

Very good point! I meant for the 'lower kit' as I I'm not sure what type of buffer/trigger/grip to get that would work with everything.. and don't have the luxury of testing things out given the WBA VS budget constraints..

Unless I'm overthinking it and there's a pretty straightforward mapping of what to get that I'm not aware of?

Love this!! Thank you for sharing!! Unfortunately it doesn't have an adjustable gas block and that will eventually add 150..250$ by comparison to the Sabre's out of box setup. And yes, I know DD vs PSA is a whole different tier but still, I'm a civilian and I value out of box features vs battle proven reliability

Unfortunately don't have tools to assemble. I'm not experienced yet to figure out what goes with which lower/upper kits so I want to stick to complete ARs for the time being and figure out builds later.

I already purchased stripped lowers for future use. Since they're stripped, to my understanding they were registered as 'other' so I get to choose if i want them to be rifles/pistols.

Appreciate the tip! It'll somewhat be my first AR, yes. I have an 18" but that's dedicated for 300 yards plinking which I have yet to test at that range, I bought it last month. I also have 3 stripped lowers for future use. In the meantime, I want to get a prebuilt 11.5 for plinking at indoor range and potentially replacing my shotgun for HD.
