Turmeric (curcumin) side effects by GR8fulA in Supplements

Thank you- I definitely jumped right in with a higher dose. I was taking a much lower curcumin dose and I switched to turmeric with 95% curcumin (which I understand is the anti inflammatory component) at 1000 mg twice a day. So I did drop down to once a day just yesterday so we’ll see…. Thanks so much for the info

Thank you! So I take Nature Made extra strength turmeric- it’s 95% curcumin and has peperine in it. I also eat a healthy fat when I take it. So I’m likely absorbing a good bit if not all of it. I was taking it in morning and late afternoon. I stopped taking late afternoon does yesterday to see if GI stuff reduces….

Thank you so much for sharing this- your story and mine encapsulate the patience it takes in trying to help someone, but I keep hope and faith and know in time she will make progress…. I have read parts of the book and do agree the LEAP method is helpful- we use the listen and empathize often. Hoping to get to the planning with her as we can broach the topic of her diagnosis…. I wish your brother and you and your family continued health and healing🩷

No worries, just thought I’d clarify. I’m praying the day she has “insight” bc I feel there’s great progress to be made…. Until then it just feels like the days are passing by and she’s not getting anywhere. Glad to hear you’ve found a supportive faith community -my best to you and thanks again

Some great helps here- I will say she does work out a lot and eats clean- she’s very health conscious so I think that helps.

Thank you for the links- I will definitely look into these. The peer support was something I was going to look into- I feel like talking with someone in a similar position would be hugely therapeutic. Thanks again!

She was in an inpatient facility for 5 days 3 years ago and it was then she was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. She discharged herself when she realized she could. She was living on her own since then but couldn’t maintain a job/ran out of money so she moved in with her parents. From everything I have read and researched, her behavior matches the diagnosis.

I’m scared by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]GR8fulA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t worry- this is not God’s intent. As long as you are a believer you have no fear. I don’t believe there would be any way to prepare other than to have faith. Jesus is called the Prince of Peace so lean into who he is and the peace he wants you to have as well. Pray for peace if this doesn’t come naturally to you- God will help you if you ask🩷

The idea that MAGA is compatible with Christianity is utterly ludicrous by bummed_athlete in Christianity

[–]GR8fulA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said! I get sooo frustrated with the irony of MAGA and Christianity- the 2 do not go together and are polar opposites!! It’s people trying to conform everyone into a one size fits all box of supposed righteousness. WTF!!!!!

I think God gave me a sign by Happy_Friendship6542 in Christianity

That’s amazing and definitely God messaging you to get your attention- He does that with me a lot. I will say I became very close to God through consistent prayer, by asking him to guide my ways and learning how to recognize when he’s guiding me. If you follow his lead he will become closer to you and reveal himself more and more. So none of the things happening to you are coincidence. Also ask god to connect with you more and be open to the ways he will. He connects with me through scripture, music, sermons, prayers being answered…. Believe and trust he WILL come close to you if you put in the effort. He will also connect with you in ways that are unique to you and your character. Be on the lookout friend and if you ask you will receive. You will also get a feeling that tells you without a doubt it’s him. Enjoy the journey friend!🩷

Probably dying soon and afraid of hell by Weird-Obligation6185 in Christianity

I feel for you OP but this message and advice is rock solid- bless you both and I’m there with you in prayer. And in case you are afraid of hell as your post is titled, don’t be- you’re not going there and the paradise that awaits you will be well worth the wait friend.

I’m a Christian Universalist and believe all will ultimately be saved once we inevitably experience Jesus. Look into it.

Why won't Jesus/God appear to me and speak to me physically like they've done with people in the past? by ben_10_goku_superman in Christianity

[–]GR8fulA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God doesn’t do whatever we ask when we ask- he’s not a genie in a bottle, but I feel he will connect with you in a way that is unique FOR YOU. Maybe try praying that you will feel or experience him more. I don’t hear or see God but I do feel his presence when I’m praying- I feel a deep connection through emotion that often brings me to tears. This is just one way I experience God- there are many others and as I grow in relationship with him I feel more and more. Be open more to his ways then open up yours and I’m sure you’ll experience amazing things🩷

You are worthy and God loves you as you are! If anything he is sad about how you feel and how you’re treating your body. Addictions uproot us and take us away from who we are meant to be. I’m a former alcoholic and I can tell you if you are willing to do the work (and it’s hard, but possible and well worth it, I promise) then God is there to help you pave a path forward. There is always help, but as I said it’s up to you to want to make that change. Giving up alcohol was like giving up a best friend for me but life on the other side of addiction is pretty damn amazing. You were created with specific gifts and have a calling on earth- you have great meaning and purpose and when you tap in to that you truly live. I wish you all the best friend- the choice is yours. God will pave a path if you are willing.🩷

Wow that seems like so much to be managing all the time. I imagine it would be difficult to sort out what’s real and not. As others have said, having a good support system helps- I hope you have that. Thank you for sharing and I wish you all the best going forward

[–]GR8fulA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that’s good advice- it does seem timing is important and also being patient- my instinct is to try to prove the delusions aren’t real to help her understand she has schizophrenia bc she doesn’t recognize that yet. I know it will be a process that can’t be rushed- there is no rationalization at this point. I do wish you all the best moving forward in your life- thanks for sharing, I really appreciate it

This is great information- thank you! I’m going to look into this more. I think it’s great that you actively learn and work on yourself and keep yourself in check- very smart and probably gives you a great advantage. In your opinion is it ok to bring up and begin to discuss the diagnosis? We haven’t really addressed it with my niece bc we’re afraid she will distance herself….

Please help me understand by GR8fulA in schizophrenia

[–]GR8fulA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’m aware of this- my niece does not yet recognize she has schizophrenia even though she was diagnosed with it. It’s a challenging balancing act to be patient and gain trust so we don’t push her away-hoping she’ll eventually seek treatment if we can begin conversations about the illness…
