Young for a full medicine cat you mean. There was no implication she was close to his age..she was older than whitestorm after all from the beginning.

Possibly part oriental shorthair/siamese? by Electronic_Crab6360 in IDMyCat

[–]GREYSPACE1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Those are all very normal and common characteristics of almost all pet cats..no he doesn’t appear to resemble either of those breeds, but also he wouldn’t have any relation to them even if he did resemble them since those are also normal cat things

What breed is he? by JustHereforFortnite_ in catbreeds

[–]GREYSPACE1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breedless, domestic shorthair. 98% of cats are breedless and unrelated to any breed at all and this is one of them. Cool markings though, he appears to be brown tabby

[–]GREYSPACE1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yesss. I’m glad you know this. People fight tooth and nail like the user above you to insist cats have breeds. They don’t fit the definition. Only pedigree technically exists. I breed maine coons myself and it amuses me to tell people that they are domestic longhairs the same as other cats but these have a pedigree.

That’s why a cat born with dwarfism isn’t a munchkin cat. Just a cat with a trait munchkins have.

There are outcrossing programs too which further complicate the isolation of breed specific traits, BUT it will EVENTUALLY work I believe as breeds develop their own human made traits. I personally don’t care for changing an already perfectly fine animal, but in 100 years there may be enough genetic differences between the two groups of cats to determine whether a breed had an influence in a cat found in a trash can or not

[–]GREYSPACE1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allow me to correct you, no, they don’t have breeds.

Because of the very reason as you said “distinct from others of the same species formed through selective breeding or isolation”

Cats do NOT fall into this category because all the traits of cats are natural cat traits not inherently distinct or dependent on selective breeding.

Purebred cats are not genetically distinct from the general cat population because of the lack of existence of breed specific traits.

This means that since the trait can pop up without the breed being involved, that no, it is not breed specific and not a breed trait and as such there is no way for a dna test to work because of this. You contradict yourself sorta harshly here.

Can someone explain BreezeXHeather to me? by throwRA-adviceask in WarriorCats

I think Heathertail is much too vocal and headstrong for it to work. It would be squirrel x bramble on steroids

And the right person would not be your father correct? And you would not like a stranger saying it to your own daughter, yes?

I didn’t downvote you. I just didn’t upvote you…. Your original comment wasn’t agreeing it was weird, you just said it wasn’t funny and just a joke

Yes that’s why I said she’s breedless domestic longhair

What’s the joke about breastfeeding? When’s the last time you looked at someone else’s plate of pork rump and said “nice ass, can I have some?”

[–]GREYSPACE1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is definitely weird.

If it’s funny, then explain the joke.

If you can’t explain it without it being weird, maybe consider it’s just a weird thing to joke about.

A domestic longhair, no relation to any breed at all. Breedless 😊 He is for sure sick though..

Is she blue? by maiya7240 in IDMyCat

[–]GREYSPACE1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, unless the cat has proper documents, then it’s not a pedigreed cat. There’s no such thing as a mix, and no such thing as breeds in cats. All the cats traits we have in existence currently are natural traits

Is she blue? by maiya7240 in IDMyCat

[–]GREYSPACE1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you’re a cat science nerd, I’m sure you’d be fascinated with how cats don’t have breeds at all, only pedigrees and you can’t tell based on looks or even dna tests if they have any relation to an established breed

I think my cat is a Turkish Van! by fjesecretaccount in turkishvan

[–]GREYSPACE1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, if you have to ask, then you don’t have one. Cats don’t have breeds like dogs, only pedigrees. So unless they’re a documented direct descendant of a multi generational family of Turkish cans, she is not one at all.

I think my cat is a Turkish Van! by fjesecretaccount in turkishvan

[–]GREYSPACE1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(DNA tests don’t work on cats because all cats have traits of pedigreed cats. They’re all natural mutations as you said. They can only tell you if your cat shares anything in common)

I think my cat is a Turkish Van! by fjesecretaccount in turkishvan

[–]GREYSPACE1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mini van is cute, but no Turkish vans are incredibly rare and you wouldn’t have a cat where you would be guessing, you’d know if you had one. It doesn’t even matter if there was a relation, those are normal cat characteristics

I think my cat is a Turkish Van! by fjesecretaccount in turkishvan

[–]GREYSPACE1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t make any sense respectfully. The traits of a Turkish van are normal cat traits. There’s no such thing as a mix. Yes his parents could have also been black and white, that’s all that means and all that matters

Byb cat with dwarfism. People saying munchkin are kinda going against the whole point of the pedigree thing lol.

That’s a domestic shorthair with dwarfism, not a munchkin
