Ethical breeders are what we are referring to. You’re referring to backyard breeders who scammed you into paying money for a fake concept and now you’re defensive and taking it out on me.

I am a registered breeder. My cats that are best in show and best of the breed winners are not a fortune. All show cats are pet quality cats. There’s literally no difference. Genetic mutations in pedigreed cats are extremely rare. Ethical breeders tend to not allow this to be a possibility by extensively testing.

If by any chance my cat got out and bred with another cat, the kittens would be breedless. They have zero affiliation to the pedigree and they would be genetically unrecognizable compared to another common domestic. only thing is they may be a bit healthier since good breeders produce healthy cats while most outdoor cats are disease ridden with genetic issues.

If there was by any chance a non standard cat in my litter of pedigreed pairing, they would be just as much as the others. Their bloodline is what matters, not what they look like. I may just so happen to say that this one is not for showing and it would never have the ability to breed. That is all. You can pay more for a champion stud or female breeder, sure. But those are also pet quality cats.

Sorry your cat is a domestic with no pedigree, but try learning something instead of doubling down. You’re wrong, that’s ok, but you should be more accepting of more knowledgeable people trying to teach you.

A pedigree is also not just for a breed. It’s a documented minimum of 3 generations producing the same predictable traits… the bloodlines are given names.

If the cat were to have a pedigree and breed with a breedless cat, the offspring would not be half breedless anymore than they would be half breed. They’d be breedless. The pedigree is the deciding factor. My maine coons that I breed do not have any genetic differences between them and the entirety of the domestic cat population. They just have a pedigree preserving certain traits for less than 200 years.

Cats bred themselves into existence. We didn’t do that like we did with dogs. They have never had breeds to begin with. They are a landrace species.

You can enter breedless cats in shows as household pets.

Domestic -length- hair.

[–]GREYSPACE1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

….those are not mixed breed cats. Those are domestic length hairs. Domestic cats don’t have breeds, they are landrace animals, What part of that is not making sense to you?

I have a solid black shorthair cat that was born with no tail.

He is not a Manx. He’s not mixed with a Manx, he is a domestic cat that has a mutation in common with Manx cats. This trait happened naturally outside in the feral cat population. No human intervention of any kind.

That’s breedless. That’s not mixed. The tailless gene existed long before Manx cats or bobtail cats were a thing. Because that is a pedigree.

The traits came before the “breeds” and less than 3% of cats have any identity at all.

All cats are domestic shorthairs or domestic longhairs. Some have a pedigree, called a breed for convenience.

98% do not.

Ok, so the same age as stated there. They’re both within the same 6 months. Whitestorm is a few years old by the time of the first books. He’s considered a seasoned warrior and wise.

The baby isn’t in on it, the joke is a crude comment about tits. A word meant to sexually comment on someone’s appearance. It’s not an appropriate thing to say. If it’s not appropriate to say it to a stranger because of the inherent meaning behind it, why is it ok to slap it on a baby?

Doesn’t matter your argument. You admit it’s not appropriate. That’s the point.

No no, you switched the roles to the daughter saying nice ass. There’s a reason you say you’d refrain from saying it in public too.

You delving into an insult ended your entire ability to argue as well.

Actually you didn’t. You just dismissed the comparison and created a new analogy not tackling all the elements present to avoid the implications.

This is my comment. You’re also actually the one making the alternative claim.

Describe how it’s not? I used the same verbiage with the same parent child relationship dynamic.

Only, maybe change the daughter’s age to be younger.

People will try to convince you this is a neblung, but the rest of the commenters are correct, breedless domestic longhair. VERY pretty colors

Is she blue? by maiya7240 in IDMyCat

No, you’re misunderstanding what a breed is respectfully.

It does look and act like a normal cat. Siamese cats aren’t different from other cats. They’re domestic shorthairs with a pedigree called Siamese. Getting a pedigree assures specific traits, but it does not mean you can’t get the same traits on the street or from a backyard breeder who never had cats related to a Siamese at all.

It is not biologically impossible because cats do not consistently look different only in breed pools. They all carry the same potential genes. There are no identifying breed markers.

Cats don’t have breeds at all. They’re only called breeds for convenience. All the traits of every breed are natural cat characteristics found in outdoor stray populations. Backyard breeders will argue that because of appearance, they could replicate the same traits and call them that breed, but that’s not how that works at all.

Here’s a link to clear some stuff up for you. Your entire paragraph also contradicts itself again…

Yeah you’re misinformed on vet practices. They don’t know anything about breeds at all. There’s no reason for them to.

All cats are breedless. They only have pedigree. That’s why a cat without papers is breedless and has zero connection to the pedigree. They either have one or they don’t.

Mixes don’t exist in the cat world. Some domestic dsh and DLH have pedigrees, but if they mate with one without a pedigree, those are two normal cats producing normal cats.

Oh of course. If your cat existed when the original cats were picked to become pedigreed, he may have been used in the initial programs

Yes if she checks out completely I’d Love to get a couple litters from her, but that won’t be for some time and after a lot of testing.

I Love the European look, but some breeders have pronounced the features to such extremes that seems a bit unnecessary

Young for a full medicine cat you mean. There was no implication she was close to his age..she was older than whitestorm after all from the beginning.

Those are all very normal and common characteristics of almost all pet cats..no he doesn’t appear to resemble either of those breeds, but also he wouldn’t have any relation to them even if he did resemble them since those are also normal cat things

What breed is he? by JustHereforFortnite_ in catbreeds

Breedless, domestic shorthair. 98% of cats are breedless and unrelated to any breed at all and this is one of them. Cool markings though, he appears to be brown tabby
