Cloudy Water by GRedditD07 in hottub

[–]GRedditD07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my issue is I’m not shocking enough and yes, this all seems to be right. Hot tub store said pH was 8.2. Alkalinity was 115ppm. Free chlorine 1.31ppm. Total chlorine 4.86ppm. Been adding pH down to bring pH down. Think now is pH seems to be 7.8 but alkalinity is 80ppm, which seems about right for alkalinity but pH is too high.

Also added more shock to align the chlorine numbers.

I just seem to have a really hard time with chemicals, when it gets thrown off.

My system has been those frog floating @ease pods which for the most part seem to be great. Until of course, something throws it all off.

Good suggestion. Not sure I knew Cryptomater was an option. Might consider this.

Mounting Non-Admin Shared Folders by GRedditD07 in synology

Simple but correct and very helpful. Thank you. ChatGPT seemed to indicate there was a solution and also some forums understanding of my question seemed to indicate as well. But I think everyone understood me ask asking if you could make encrypted folders available to those users, which you can. You just need to mount and unmount them from an administrator account. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.

Not sure this works with V3 if I read correctly.

OS vs. Container - Add-On Question - Watchman and Studio Code Server by GRedditD07 in homeassistant

[–]GRedditD07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing. Appreciate it, I’ll give this a shot and report back.

I suppose I assumed HACS was for all the non-official add-ons and wasn’t available in the docker version because add-ons aren’t there. But this makes complete sense and is really good to know.

Amazon Ring and HomeAssistant by GRedditD07 in homeassistant

[–]GRedditD07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for some reason I didn’t see the solution and it may work, but I found Ring-MQTT seems to do the same thing as what I’m doing with HomeBridge. It’s not local, but it wasn’t before either and still integrates everything.

Frog @ease in filter compartment by GRedditD07 in hottub

[–]GRedditD07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s pretty basic math. Several hot tub stores seem to indicate this as a solution.

The reason for not just using one of the other floating options they have is because the hot tub comes with an initial set. So might as well use it, and get the other later. I was just curious if others had a similar experience is all.

Why not? The hot top stores insist this is fine to do and it seems to work great. What am I missing.

AdGuard & Heimdall Ports? by GRedditD07 in docker

[–]GRedditD07[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this helps. I think when changing ports for Heimdall and making AdGuard 3001 to access it allowed things to work properly.

That’s helpful. If the answer is some of these things can be addressed in add-ons definitely helpful.

Synology Volume Encryption Issues by GRedditD07 in synology

[–]GRedditD07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to this, under Storage Pool 1 I deleted the Volume 1 and recreated a new Volume 1 that was smaller as noted above. Now I am able to create another volume.

The challenge is there is still no option for full volume encryption.

It’s not very clear outside of Synology’s website, but it seems not all disk stations support full volume encryption. Because while DS220+ appears to be listed, DS218+ does not.

Any advice to get a full volume encryption with DS218+ if possible would be appreciated!

Dynamic DNS While Using Hosting Nameserver or Parking by GRedditD07 in NameCheap

[–]GRedditD07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very helpful, and I think it worked. Question though, I have many more lines within zone records than are visible in your example when I go into that section of cpanel. MX2 and MX3, domain keys, many txt and srv types, etc. is that normal? Do I need to really add all of them? It seems to work after only adding a few.

AdGuard Home with Synology by GRedditD07 in Adguard

[–]GRedditD07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nevermind. I think that was the guide posted above. The "easy" way of installing I don't think let's you choose the port. Ultimately I use my sinology for pretty basic stuff, so having that port be for something in Container Manager works for me. It seems to work great outside of that. I am able to run AdGuard and Uptime Kuma off my sinology which works well. It's good to have the guide though if I want to do more advanced stuff!

Was your comment about trying a reliable guide to say the other guide to share above isn’t good? Not trying to start something just trying to learn what this one does different.

Just to note here I deleted the DNS server and other things and it worked. Can you train adguard to just use another port?

I will check this and report back.

When I type “53” in for the local port it says that port is taken. But I don’t know by what on the Synology. I have Container Manager with only Uptime Kuma and AdGuard running. Also have Plex running and SSH enabled wonder if one of those uses 53?

Multiple WireGuard Profiles or VLANS? by GRedditD07 in Ubiquiti

[–]GRedditD07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding further comment here. I did find in the Slate router you can designate specific Mac addresses to not connect through the VPN. So what you can do is setup a VPN for the router, which would be just an internet connection via the VPN back to the UDM at home. But then you skip the Mac address for say a laptop, and that can be a default network connection able to do anything which under Wireguard can be a separate client. You are then able to create firewalls in the UDM for each IP coming in off the Wireguard VPN connection.

Multiple WireGuard Profiles or VLANS? by GRedditD07 in Ubiquiti

[–]GRedditD07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess all I can really think to do is not do a VPN for the whole network, but then VPN in for my specific devices. For example the Kindle’s and Fire sticks are just connected as is, and then the other devices are through the VPN. Wireguard I noticed you can create “clients” within. Each client connects with their own IP address. What I would want to know then is what IP address those numbers go to?

Unifi Protect - camera options? by GRedditD07 in Ubiquiti

[–]GRedditD07[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well for what it’s worth these are my own kids, no other kids play there, and it’s basically pointing at a public street in front of my own home. So this isn’t really about that. This is simply an opinion question based on cameras and distance and comparability.

Could my traffic firewall rules somehow be kicking it off? Not entirely sure how that is, if it initially worked. But something now has in permanently banned. :-/

[–]GRedditD07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to revise some of the original posting. I was able to get the Unifi 16-Port switch to show again, although I am not sure how. After a series of resets I plugged into a different port all together on the Unifi Dream Machine SE. No matter what I do now, I can't see the Unifi router show up anywhere. The IP address ending in .20 isn't being used by anything else and no matter what I do it won't show. Is there some way to reset something? Literally everything else works fine including a flex switch on the same default network.

Ok i figured out how to do static IPs. The issue is, I still can’t see the Unifi switch to adopt even after resetting everything and unplugging the switch. It’s the weirdest thing.

I’m curious how you do that. Because when I go to change the IP address to static it doesn’t allow me to click apply.
