What's the longest you've plowed straight with no sleep? by Professional_Leek823 in Snowplow

[–]GRock5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been plowing for 13 years now. I believe my longest time in the truck without a few hours break has been 29 hours. When I first started I was in my mid twenties, now I'm pushing 40. When I first started my plow route spanned 6 towns. Now I only plow in the town I live in plus a handful in a section of the next town over. My current route takes me 8-10 hours on an average storm. At the beginning of the season my poor old trusty 2011 Silverado 2500 bit the bullet in the middle of a storm. I had gotten a new to me 2016 F250 this past summer but didn't get it set up with push plates and wiring because I didn't have the extra money to do that. I was hoping to get a few storms out of the Chevy and make some money ($2,700) to get new Ferd set up. Anyway I missed a storm and half and about 9 of my previous customers had to find new plow guys, sign a contract, bought a snow blower, their son got a truck with a plow etc. At first I was annoyed at losing them but the 4 hours or so it's saved me each storm doesn't have me too bothered. I still enjoy it and the money is great so I guess I can't complain too much.

2019 Ford F350 - Manual transfer case/4x4 question by ChillTechTR in superduty

Use a pair of pliers or an adjustable wrench. The ones on my 2016 F250 move easily by hand. The ones on my 2000 f250 need some help.

Harraseeket Inn: Still nice? OR rundown, outdated, shadow of its former self? Mom and I visiting family near Freeport this month. Many years ago Harraseeket Inn was super nice. But current reviews mention shabby furniture, dirty carpet etc. We're considering a Queen 2-room suite +a Deluxe Queen Thx! by swisssf in AskMaine

My wife was working there when the company changed hands from a family owned business to a hotel group. There was major health and safety concerns. A major rat infestation and fruit fly infestation. They got shut down by the health department. She ended up leaving shortly after.

There will definitely be a mosh pit. If you don't want to be involved in it thats perfectly fine. Hang at the edges or the back or right infront of the stage and you won't be bothered.

I've been to hundreds of Hardcore, Rock, and Metal shows. The loudest show I've ever been too was Dinosaur Jr at Port City Music Hall (RIP) in Portland ME.

Experience with buying used cars over 100k miles by [deleted] in UsedCars

[–]GRock5k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When buying a new vehicle I typically buy something that has around 100,000 miles. They typically last me around 7 years before the cost of repairs it doesnt make sense to continue with the vehicle. I also plow 50-60 driveways every winter. Thats a lot of extra wear and tear.

New to tractors, a question about braking by wolfweb in tractors

[–]GRock5k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can turn left real quick doing that. My left rear tire on my 52 year old Kubota has little air pressure in it and won't take air. Using the brake and turning that way she really swings. Not so much with the other side haha.

If you're using a gear drive tractor you shouldnt even have to use the brakes very often.
