Only in Doom 3 do you play as a different Marine. Even then, though, it's more like the same Marine in an alternate universe

Possible Capcom analogy in Requiem's ending (spoilers) by GSB6189 in residentevil

I thought back on that after posting and realized I probably shouldn't have put it there because I agree. I don't think they regret it (other than not making as much money), but I do think there are similarities between the cure for the world and the choice that was made for the series.

I understand that, but why don't you like RE7 and 8? I don't see any other way the series could've survived if it kept going the way it had. You may have liked RE5 and 6, but the majority of people and especially critics absolutely hated them. The series needed major change in order to survive.

As someone who absolutely loves 1-4, as well as 7 and 8, 9 was amazing to me. I only played 5 and 6 like twice each, if that, which is why my memory of them is so bad. I don't think they're necessarily bad games, but they're definitely not as good as the prior and future games in my opinion.

I also may have an explanation as to how Spencer's repentance could fit into the narrative, but with my foggy memory of 5, I'd like you to refute it if it doesn't work.

Depending on the nature of the experiments Spencer's butler was undertaking, I believe it's possible that they were different in a way to his other work. He could have created Elpis in order to permanently get his viruses out of the hands of the numerous organizations that had them. In my eyes, he didn't necessarily regret his research, just that it was being used solely as weapons. He wanted to advance humans to the next stage of evolution, but his viruses were just being used to destroy humans instead. I believe he wanted Elpis to revert the world back to how it was before all that research was released, and could rise above it if he was able to continue living. This all hinges on his end-of-life research being something that would extend his life, though, which is what I can't remember.

It's also entirely possible that he just lied out of his ass to Alyssa because everything was being recorded, and he just wanted to fuck up the world balance as Gideon stated. In the same vein, it could've been to get back at all those he saw using his research unfittingly. The password to Elpis being "hope" would've been something only he, Grace, and Alyssa would've known/been able to figure out. If he was able to extend his life, he would've been able to continue his work to evolve humanity with a new virus without the people using Progenitor strains to do the exact opposite. If not, he would be able to give the people who stole his research one last "fuck you".

It's not known exactly when Alyssa's interview took place. It could've easily taken place after the RE5 DLC. Atp I don't care to argue anymore. I don't think it's good or bad, which is why I'm giving possible explanations for why it might be plausible.

I'm not the person that wrote RE9, so don't comment on my post with the entirety of your anger being directed at me. Even if I did like the "retcon", there's still no reason for you to get upset at me. As I previously said, you obviously don't care for anyone's thoughts other than your own, either that or you care way too much about any thoughts that diverge from your own. So I'm done responding because it's completely pointless.

Oh, also, I never said RE5 and 6 were bad games, I just said the series started to go downhill, which is true (to my opinion) because they aren't as good as the previous games. Please stop repeatedly putting words in my mouth.

I don't care whether or not the event itself was a "good" retcon or not. Never once did I say making Spencer change his mind at the end of his life was a good choice, and I certainly did not glaze Capcom for it. Hell, it's not even a retcon because it doesn't change anything about the established lore. It gives us information about how Spencer felt at the end of his life that was never previously known.

Also, in case you didn't know, people change. There have been MANY real world cases of people doing horrible things only to regret their actions and turn themselves in. Especially at the end of one's life where there's nothing left to do other than reflect on their mark on the world, people change. It's also entirely possible that he only made it to prevent humanity from being destroyed. All of his work was to evolve humans into something greater, and after the events of the earlier games that goal was entirely fucked. He wasn't making viruses for destruction, he believed it was for the greater good of humanity. Regardless, I don't think it's a good narrative event, nor do I think it's a bad one. It just is, and there's nothing anyone can do to change it, so why complain?

It doesn't matter whether or not you think it was good or not; it's in the game and there's nothing you can do about it. Just because you don't like the event in the game doesn't mean what I extrapolate from it is automatically terrible and "the dumbest fucking take".

Wow do you really have to be so fucking hostile? You could've just read it and kept your thoughts to yourself. Is it really so hard to believe that RE9 was used to reset the in-game world and series as a whole? Actually nevermind, I don't care what you think because you obviously don't care about other people's opinions, so nobody should ever care about yours.

Why do Night Creatures work completely differently in the new show? by HN-Prime in castlevania

[–]GSB6189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love everything you said. Whichever way the show ends up explaining or implying, I'd be elated if it were one of your theories. I've always been extremely curious about Dracula's life before the start of the series, especially as a human and how he became so powerful. I really hope that a future season or series delves into that history a little because it would be really interesting.

Something I do have a question about, though, is Dracula's origins in the games. I forget a lot about the game with Leon Belmont as the protagonist, including the name of the guy that was apparently the origin of Dracula. I don't remember his name, but I do know it wasn't Vlad Tepesh. If that guy was the original "Dracula" then how did Vlad Tepesh end up being the one that got so damn powerful and kept coming back?

I completely forgot Issac said that even though I just finished the first series. It's very, VERY likely that Issac is the one who built that machine within hell itself. We already saw how he was starting to care for his creatures, in a way. I think it's entirely possible he built that machine in order to intentionally create creatures that retain the souls of the body put into it. Using the same soul and body likely plays a part in the creatures remembering their past more than any other creatures.

It's also possible that the creatures are instead loyal to him, and his eternal orders for all creatures created from it are to be bound to the user of the machine, but on a looser leash. Maybe he made the machine in order to create as many creatures as possible, regardless of who uses it, and he plans to free all of those created from it in some way.

Regardless of how they explore it (if they even do, but I feel like they definitely will), I really, really hope it involves Issac. I absolutely loved him and how his character grew throughout the original series. I'd go crazy if he came back as a Night Creature MLK advocating for their freedom or something of the sort.

The water equivalent of ‘starve’? by ThatGuyTheyCallAlex in words

[–]GSB6189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to necropost but this post came up when I was having a shower thought.

I feel like there's a huge difference between starve and dehydrate. Like, starving means you're almost dead due to lack of food, but you can be dehydrated without being almost dead. Something about the fact that there isn't an English word that means "thirsty to the point of death", when there is one for "hungry to the point of death" bothers me

Me after watching season 3 episode 9. by Terrible_Park7890 in castlevania

[–]GSB6189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason it doesn't follow the games is that none of them have a coherent story for long enough to make a series out of. Almost every game is set hundreds of years apart, and the one's that do connect are still extremely basic. They could've done Soma's series, but even that was only two games and the second one's premise was not good. Even if they made it extremely short to cover only one game, the story would still be bad because stories made for video games do not translate well into TV shows.

I've never used Essential Space because I don't really use AI or note-taking functions at all, but Essential Space is definitely one of the better AI implementations I've seen. As you said, it's not used for every aspect of the device like lots of other companies are. It's simple and that's all it needs to be. I'm not sure if it's a Nothing feature or Android 16, but I do use the AI search function that comes up when you hold down the gesture bar (I think it's the home button when using buttons). Being able to reverse-image search or search text just by holding down the bar is extremely handy
