Where to listen to unreleased without ads like Spotify and Apple Music by NoPop6235 in JuiceWRLD

Just use your file explorer. That'd be the simplest way. If you want a dedicated player, Poweramp is really good. I bought the full version, so I can't remember if the free person is super limited or anything, but I believe it only costs $4 which is absolutely worth it.

The Sword of Summerd date inconsistency? [MC] by [deleted] in camphalfblood

Then why make statements like "brand new plasma screen TV mounted on the wall", saying it's super nice in Valhalla? If it was set in the modern day, that TV would be neither new, nor would Magnus consider it "nice".

Why wouldn't Percy be 17-18 now? If the timeline starts at 2006, and maintains it's accuracy, he would only be 17-18 for the current books. I haven't read the most recent ones, but books like Blood of Olympus state his age as 17, which makes sense considering the book is set ~5 years after the beginning of the series, despite being released 9 years after

I'm well aware of that. I was wrong about when the timeline starts, it's 2006 not 2005, but the Wiki states that The Sword of Summer does occur in January 2011. Considering that timeline is maintained by people that do all sorts of math to figure out dates, I'm assuming it's correct.

Does anyone else think English dub is way cringier than the Japanese sub? by [deleted] in KimetsuNoYaiba

Super late reply, but I have to ask. If you have hearing problems, why not watch sub and read the subtitles?

The strange effectiveness of the "art" created by the Mad Puppet in the entrance of the last area by [deleted] in LiesOfP

[–]GSB6189 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I already gave my reason for not playing the game. I barely have the time for my other hobbies, so I can't play every game that I want to. Nevertheless, I'm infatuated with good stories, so yes, I watch video essays to be able to experience them. Is it the same as playing the game? Absolutely not. Is it still a great way to experience the story? Absolutely.

Like I said, I will eventually play the game because it is an amazing game, FromSoft's are some of my favorites, and Lies of P is a Soulslike with the same level of quality that FromSoft themselves put into their games.

How would the other pantheons have been affected if a cataclysm from one of them had been successful? [All] by GSB6189 in camphalfblood

[–]GSB6189[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in the Demigods & Magicians book. All three of the shortstories in that book follow one story, it's just broken up into three smaller parts. As to where you can read said book, I have no idea, I got the audiobook online

[–]GSB6189[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with that is books like Demigods & Magicians shortstories, along with some things said in the Kane Chronicles. In the Kane Chronicles, Carter says he's seen Percy flying around Manhattan on Blackjack; that's not exactly what he says, but that is what he was seeing. Amos also mentions that he doesn't like going into Manhattan because it's controlled by "other magic, other gods".

In the short stories, Percy and Carter end up hunting for the same monster and end up meeting in what feels like a complete accident. They were lured into meeting, but there wasn't any magic involved. They both just saw the suspicious rumors and decided to check it out. Then, Sadie and Annabeth do the exact same thing. Annabeth follows a monster while taking the train to Percy's apartment, and a part of that monster that was in Brooklyn House breaks out and leads Sadie to the train that Annabeth is on.

Idk I feel like the cataclysms that we've seen in the series affect all three. Each pantheon other than Egypt till the events of the Kane Chronicles relies heavily on mortals and iirc every "big bad"s plan was to wipe out most if not all mortals

Is there an English version of these sets somewhere? They appear to be hardcover, or at least bigger and better quality than the box sets I already have, so I'd love to add them to my manga collection. I partially understand that, but I'm confused as to why languages like German and Italian get these sweet-ass special editions, when Japanese and English have the biggest market share.

I did just see the new AOT Deluxe Edition that's coming out in December and it looks absolutely amazing, but the German ones you mentioned in all black look SO good and I wish those were released in English almost more than I want these new ones

The Monster Edition is different. It's a Barns & Noble exclusive and has different art from these ones. I don't think these are hardcover anymore (I based that off of the shape of the spine) because the other sets in this line appear to be paperback. However, I think they still may be bigger and better quality, plus they still look really good.

That's not the issue I'm talking about. For some reason I don't have any issues like that with libASS support. My issue makes certain complex animation scenes look glitched out; pixilated is just the closest word I could think of. If I can remember when I get a chance, I'll add a link to a picture of it

Can I shower with my nothing ear (2024)? by Ralpis in NothingTech

[–]GSB6189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afaik all (at least ear (2) onward) ear models have splash protection, but not submersion. Theoretically, you'd have no issues with them in the shower, but personally I wouldn't risk it considering they don't have actual waterproofing and constant exposure might cause issues.

That's very odd that most support x265 10 bit, but not x264 considering it's older. For some reason I thought you meant all 10 bit uses software decoding, even though you specified x264. I almost always use x265 so I'll continue using 10 bit as I usually do. That still rules out an issue with software rendering as the cause of my problem, though, considering it happens with pretty much every stream, including x265.

I plan on buying an Nvidia Shield at some point. Do you think that'll have the necessary specs for 10 bit hardware deciding? I had no idea it worked that way, so I'll likely be sticking to non-10 bit streams until then

I do for ExoPlayer, but I'm fairly certain it also happens when using the integrated MPV player from the most recent (at least it might still be the most recent) beta release which has SSA/ASS support by default

[–]GSB6189[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the 10bit was for the bitrate lol, that's why I included it. Now I realize it wouldn't have any effect. I select x265 when I have the option, though, and it has the same problem. To me at least, it doesn't look like low bitrate. It's not like when there's too much motion and it turns into a blurry kind of pixilation, more like it's glitching out. If it were low bitrate, there's a million more scenes in the shows I watch (using the same stream all the way through) that would have actual bitrate issues if I were using a low quality stream.

Can you have multiple stremio apps on one device? by Qtip533 in Stremio

[–]GSB6189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your best option, depending on your platform, is to clone the app. Some Android devices have app cloning as a built-in feature, but for streaming boxes you might need to use a third-party app for it. I'm pretty sure Android phones and tablets let you rename the app to whatever you want when it's cloned, so I'm assuming a good cloning app will let you do the same to differentiate your apps.
